Can anyone tell me if a 1994 302 out of a GT is like the late 1980 and earlier 1990's 302. Is it a good 302 to build or do they have a bad rep.? Thanks motor heads.

Hey Ken, the 94 5.0L block is the same block as the mid to late 80's roller block. If it is a short or long block, the the pistons are hyperutectic from 92-95. The heads are the same from 87-95, E7's. A good cheap upgrade to the heads is the iron GT-40's out of 93-95 Cobras or the GT-40P's heads out of the late 90's explorer's with the 5.0 motors.
If you are going to put this into a 60's Mustang, then you will need the timing chain cover that has the fuel pump mounting & add the fuel pump excentric on the crank.
All the 5.0 blocks can handle the same HP. If you are looking at making more HP, the you can look for the Mexican block.

Thats pretty much what I needed to know and you were correct in assuming it would be going into the '66, after a complete rebuild . Thanks for the reply. :)

No problem.
Then you will need a timing chain cover from the 289 or 302 that ran carburation. Unless you are going to go EFI!!!
When you do the rebuild, let me know I just finished rebuilding a 351 for a 69 Mach I, have not started it yet, just dropped the motor in Monday. Have to paint all the brackets & stuff before starting.

I definitely would want to go EFI.

mexican blocks are cast with 5% nickel. not really worth the extra value people try to get out of them.
