About 3 months ago I found a photo (that I cannot find now) it was a grey 2007 Shelby Cobra with two white strips, extreamly wide rear tires, the two extra head lights were right next to each other in the middle of the grill, I mean touching each other, the car was very tricked, I cannot find that photo anywhere now,

I think most of us would like to see some 07 Shelby Cobras that look like special versions of some kind, very tricked out, if anyone has some please put them up,,,thanks Dave B.

I think the picture you are refering to is a photoshop'd '05 GT made to look like Eleanor from Gone in 60 seconds. That car was definately cool, but it does not exist.

Here's one I saw at Lime Rock this weekend:

So it does exist -- I saw it.

No idea what was under the hood.

You know I hate to say this, but after looking at the differant versions of the 2005 mustangs, It does not seem to be the same breed of car that all of us driving the 2000 thru 2004's or even before, the 1997 is more like my 2003 then the 05's

its like they went from a good road race design to a drag racer only,,,,,

Correct. That car does not exist. I remember seeing the original picture somewhere. I believe the original car is black.

Thats not a 2007 Cobra. That is a 2005 GT with Cobra badges and other misc appearance mods.

some things to consider, the 05 is winning Grand Am races, something that was not really possible with the old Fox-based outdated chassiss. This is definitely nothing close to drag racing. And we are talking about competing with porsche's and bmw's. AND it is doing it by beating the IRS Grand AM cars with solid rear axles. I love my IRS, but gotta give credit where credit is due.

Also, the import driven "drift" competition was won by the TOYO racing 2005 GT powered by the 4v 03 enging and a twin screw blower.

just looks like a throw back that should have an ANTIQUE license plate on it.

You know,,,,,a body design that should have been discontinued because of the modern idea of AERODYNAMICS!!!!!,,,,

From the few write-ups that I have read on the new platform, it seems it has spent more time being tweaked in the wind tunnel than its predicessors, so I guess looks can be deceiving.

its all just too bad,
when I bought my Cobra in the late 2003, the rumblings of what the next cobra was going to be like were are over but no one knew for sure,

Its just too bad Ford decided to build a trick looking car the GT40 in so few numbers that most of us will never so much as sit behind the wheel of one much less own one, but the worst was when Ford chose to build a throw back looking old car, instead of a modern high performance car that would compete with the imports on a road race track, instead of returning to a strait line mentality with a bulky looking old car.

Bigger engine or not, the 2000's threw 2004 were the best over all body design, with the 2000 Cobra "R" being the pinnacle., I only hope Ford gets the message quick for 2008.

I wouldn't want this to devolve into a pissing contest about aesthetic preferences--what body style is best...yada, yada, yada--, but I've test-driven both '02/'04 GT's and '05 GT's. And, there was a very noticable difference for the better in both the overall character of the ride and the handling of the '05 GT, analogous to the difference between driving my '96 Cobra with Cobra R suspension package and driving either of the above.

My aesthetic preference would be to choose understatement over "wretched excess" (Poe), and I don't think that the '05 GT is bloated or overblown--at least not to the point that it verges on the "lead sleds" of 1973-76.
(God forgive me, I even owned one of these "turds with wheels":

Pinto-Stang

The thing that I think saves the new body style from excess is that careful thought went into integrating some of the more elegant lines from the '68-'71 "hay-day-of-the-muscle-car" Mustangs.

Anyway, even if '05 styling is a little more full-figured, the engine for the new Shelby GT500 could push a lead tank up a muddy hill. :bounce:
