Im getting new tires and wheels for my 99 Cobra w/stock suspension. I want to go with a 18in wheel and a bit taller tires to fill out the fender wells so that I dont have to lower the car (I will lower a bit if need be). I like the Casino Chrome wheels from American Racing, but the fitment guide says I need their 20x8 wheel (6in backspacing and +42mm offset). The 18x8 wheel that I want has the same backspacing but a 40mm offset (i beleive this is negative).

-Will this wheel fit F/R without any rubbing? (even if I decide to still drop 1in)
-I dont want the tires/wheels sitting outside the fender, but want them just inside the fender and not so deep under the car. Will these wheels result in that?

I think I've read about ever thread on the subject in this site, but from the info I found I could not figure this one out. I hope someone can help. Thanks.

I have 275/35/18 cobra R's on my 99 cobra. It is also lowered about 1.5 inches all the way around with eibachs. Tire rub will only be a problem if you hit a bump very hard(under speed). Also if someone is in the back seat:D and you accelerate hard, you will also rub the back tires. More than anything your exhaust will be very close to the ground whick can scrape. Overall from a looks and performance standpoint, I would highly suggest it. You wont lose much ride quality. Plus it dramatically enhances the stance of the car. Hope this helps...later
