A little more progress has been made, I'm ready to unbolt the k-member and start the resassembly process. I'll be busting my ass to get this thing together, bugs worked out, and tuned in time for the drag day. :doubt:

Looks like allot of work, but also looks like you have done your homework! Good luck, and canīt wait to see the fiinished installation. Are the turbos going inside the fendors, or do they go up front? Good luck.

you're gonna use Randy, arent you? If so, we're gonna try and get a day sometime the first week of Nov and take it up there...would be cool to see the difference in the 50mm's and 67mm's

I am going to tune it myself, but I'm gonna do my WOT stuff on Randy's dyno. I told him I'd pay him for his time if he'd watch over me and make sure I don't mess anything up. Plus, it'll give us both some expirience tuning a street driven turbo'd mod motor. I'm hoping to have mine tuned before the november drag day, but if not, early november would be great.

It should be up and running by then unless I find something wrong, or if I'm missing something I don't know about yet. I'm shooting to have the car ready to race at the drag day on november 5th. So perfect scenario, I'll be racing that Saturday. But, you can never have too perfect of a tune, so i'd be down with going up there for some race gas pulls or something.

I'm sorry, I missed your question. Thanks for the compliments. I've done quite a bit of research, so I hope I didn't forget anything. The turbos go up front behind the fenders. Really, a few inches above the fog lights. As my install progresses, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Well, here we go......

http://www.modularfords.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=17744&stc=1&d=1130018355

Here's the rig job..... had to put a piece of metal between the engine mount and the k-member to keep the header from hitting.

http://www.modularfords.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=17745&stc=1&d=1130018355

After playing musical pipes, I got everything lined up. Here's the passenger side.

Starting to look like a turbo kit now.....http://www.modularfords.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=17750&stc=1&d=1130018642

Just a corner view.

http://www.modularfords.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=17751&stc=1&d=1130018642

Here's just a mock up pic. Everything is just "dry mounted" just to make sure I get the clearance I need. It's coming together though.

http://www.modularfords.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=17754&stc=1&d=1130018710

I'm a little farther along, but the turbos aren't sitting up there anymore. I started putting gasket sealant and putting the oil fitting on the turbos. Also, I need to cut some plastic that's under there so it won't melt when things get hot. I hope you enjoy the pics guys!!

nice job. looks like its comin good. good luck. How would you rate the install from 1-10 10 being the hardest?

I don't know how to rate the "difficulty" level, but it sure is time consuming and a little frustrating at times. I was expecting it to be hard, but really it's not. It's just a bunch of jobs all ran into one big install. For 1, the blower swap. You've got to pull the eaton off, then remove the lower intake, then do injectors, then the bumper, then the heat exchanger, all the hoses, pumps etc. Then, remove the springs, then drop the k-member. Then do a header swap, then route all the new pipes. ( <- run on sentence) I'm having some problems clamping everything up. It seems everytime I tighten up some clamps, I can't get the piping on the other side to line up right. So I'm bouncing back and forth from side to side. As for difficulty, this really is about as tough as it gets next to doing a long tube header swap without dropping the k-member. LOL But, I don't believe it's very hard. I would say it's about a 5 for difficulty, but a 10 for time consumption. There is a lot of things to do. Once I get all these pipes lined up and tightened down, I still have to wire up the boost controller, install the kb boost a pump, wire up my wide band o2, run all the vaccum lines. Then, I have to go through and zip tie all the new vaccum lines and pray that nothing leaks. Also, I've got to tune this beast. And of course, I still need to put in my 26 spline input shaft and clutch stuff.

I haven't taken any more pictures, but I've installed the oil feed lines, and clamped all the piping together. It was a pain in the a$$ to get everything lined up. Now, I just have to punch a few holes in the oil pan and run the exhaust out the back. Then, do the input shaft, clutch and flywheel. From there, KB boost a pump, wideband commander install, and then finish up some things in the engine bay. I'm starting to feel that I won't get it done in time........ :o

I'm going to mount my boost controller (turbosmart eboost) in my cupholder. I had problems with the driver's side turbo hitting the horn (of all things). LOL It made things difficult, so I just removed the horn. LOL Who needs it? But really, the piping lines up great. The ***** of it is, is when it comes time to clamp the stuff together. If you pull too much on one side, then there isn't enough room on the other. You just have to get it perfect, then everything will clamp up. I haven't ran the exhaust yet, but I need to drop the tranny first. I may have this ***** done by this weekend. Who knows?

Due to conflictions at work, I will be in Tennessee all next week. So I won't be able to work on the car. Even if I got it done this weekend, there will be no time to iron out the tune and fix any potential problems. I'm sorry, but I will not be able to make it to the fall drag day.

I've had some crappy luck when it comes to drag days. I've always got something that comes up. I tried to get a lot done this weekend, but I got held up running around looking for the correct tap to tap the oil pan with. I need to get one of these taps somehow. No idea what size though. The "destructions" say a 1/2'' tap. Well, a 1/2 tap isn't even close. Way too small. I have a set of punches, but I don't have any big enough to roll a hole that big in the pan, so i'll need to buy a bigger punch too. I just hate running around trying to get little parts and tools like this. You'd think for damn near $8000 they'd hook a brother up with a tap and punch like vortech does. LOL

when are you planning on having the car all done and back together??
the other question I would like to ask, is how do you get a computer that was designed to flow a certain air/fuel in a non-blow engine,
now comes all this boost,,,,how is its told to add THAT much more fuel?
I know it can compensate for some denser air, but not that much more, how is it done,?? "an add on chip"??

Dave, there are multiple things you can do to help change the settings. Smashed has the Mafia, 95mm MAS, and the SCT package that basically acts like a stand-alone fuel system which allows you to change many parameters. I for one am using the Revolution chip supplied with the kit on a switch to use up to 4 different settings (600rwhp, 700rwhp, 800+rwhp, valet mode)...if HP could get my turbo housings here soon enough, we'll have the car together...hope to have it tuned on the 19th

I'm not sure when it will be ready to fire up. I just keep chuggin along on it and one day, it'll be done. As for tuning:

I am going to use the stock MAF with Diablosport's MAFia (http://www.diablosport.com/ProductSearch.php?search_dropdown=MAFia) to extend the range of the stock MAF. I am going to try this first and see how this works out. I think it will be fine. For everything else I am using Superchips Custom Tuning's PRO RACER PACKAGE (http://www.modulardepot.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_46&products_id=47). This gives me full control of the ECU. I'll be able to write my own timing tables and set up a MAF transfer function to keep the air to fuel ratios in check. I'm going to get some help from Randy Haywood (www.haywoodcustomspeed.com) as well. I've got a base tune through Ken @ modulardepot. I'm also getting some help from others. I'll monitor my air to fuel ratio with the wide band commander (www.widebandcommander.com) .

Instead of buying the pro racer package, why didn't you just buy a standalone like the Accel system ?

For a street car there really is no better way to go than the factory ECU. I can run my fuel and timing tables based on volumetric efficiency (factory ecu) vs manifold air pressure (stand alone). That way my car can run every bit as good as a factory vehicle yet still support tons of power. Also, the PRP is easy to use, and there are tons of tuners out there as well as other enthusiasts that use this software that can help. Also, we can all share our ideas and screen each other's tunes so everyone benefits.

I got the pan tapped last night. By looking at it, the car looks done. I am going to go over all the nuts and bolts and tighten everything up. Then I'll wire up the engine bay and run the vaccum lines. :bounce:

I may have the issue fixed. It only puts a puff of smoke out when I hammer on it real quick. I'm not sure if oil is getting out, or if it's still burning oil out of the pipes. Right now, I'm running just open downpipes just for the sake of trying to fix this issue. As for the drag day, it's not going to happen. I found out yesterday that I'm going to ship out to Iraq again early EARLY february.
