Well on the Hot Rod Magazine Forums a guy from Australia said that the Monero (SP??) was going out of production and since the GTO is the Monero ya it was kind of evident it was going away. Plus the GTO just never sold, wrong body style to carry such a vaunted muscle car name.

I was reading something yesterday about the GTO going away because the platform that it is built on, Saab, is being redesigned or eliminated.

Can anyone confirm this article? Does anyone know if this is for sure, or if its just speculation?

I know not to believe everything on the net, and that just seems hard to believe after having only been around for 2 years! That is a shocker!

As you probably know by now, GM is in some financial troubles as is any automanufacturer nowadays. It does not surprise me if GM eventually goes belly up and drops a few brand names as well. Since Oldsmobile hit the dumpster a few years back, perhaps pontiac will eventually find its way there as well.
