I do not know if it's a standard size.
It will depend on the tire manufacturers individual specifications that will determine how it will perform for those types of conditions. Tires tread depth, ware rating, etc.
It’s difficult to cover all those deferent type of condition with out sacrificing something.

And yes I will help with the shifter install.

we just ordered some 285/40/18 for the rear and some 255/45/28 for the front.
We are putting them on a 18x9 rim. After doing some checking these were the ones rec. to go with on our car for Auto cross.

That is similar to my street tire setup, on 17” rim. I would use the same size tire for any open track or auto-x so you could rotate after each event to optimize even tread wear of the tires.

Depending on tire manufacturer these results may very.
Range of rim widths are:

285 9-11” wide.
275 9-10” wide.
265 9-10” wide.
255 8-9” wide.

i have 18x9" tires on the front and 18x10" on the back.

i run 275 on the front (nittos) and 305 on the back (nitto drag radials)

i used to have 18x9 all the way around and ran the exact same setup. there were not issues in getting the 305's on the back. on my 17" wheels, you could get a 315 nitto on the back (9" wheel) w/ no problems as well.

Answering for John.
The two cars John owns, 93 Cobra and Mach1. If I'm correct the 18" 2000 Cobra R rims offset will only fit correctly on the Mach1.

John....I would HIGLY recommend NOT getting 18's for track use as they are expensive and a waste. Get the 18s for your street driving tires, save the 17s for track use.

That's what my plan will be....hopefully this summer. :D

John,

The OEM tire size which came on those R rims from the factory is 265/40/18. I run 285/30/18 on my rims for track use. I do not recommend this for street use. Too little side wall translates into a very rough ride and makes the car sit lower - good for track, not so good for street driving.

The 03 Cobra rims fit the newer 05-06 GT's Good, not perfect but good. They Don't stick out , but you can't run a Monster tire on it either.
