it's the upgraded version of mine Stan. You can get a 1.0gig card for about $100 that will let you take about 400 pictures on the largest size setting available. Feel free to PM me if you have any further questions.

I'm actually thinking of buying a XT b/c it's 8 megapixels, smaller, lighter and faster than my Dig Rebel. And it'd be cool to have 2 bodies for ease of camera switching in fast paced times.

Actually, they just had a 4 gig for about $120 on buy.com. I just got another 2 gig for $39. It is the compact flash cards and I would get a fast one to keep up with the 3 frames per second that the 350D will take. After reading many post online, I had heard the best card to go with is the Kingston Elite Pro cards. On my 2 gig with the 8 Mega pixel, I get about 550 per card.

Copy and paste the link. The brackets in it are messing it up.

Over the past year I have been trying to complete my set up. It is very expensive, but the difference between a regular point and shoot and a SLR are huge. Pictures are not something you will regret having in the future, so to me, it is priceless. I shopped around and found decent prices on some nice used lens.

My set up:

Canon Rebel 350D XT

Manfrotto Monopod (thank Bart for making me buy this after watching him at TWS)

Canon 70-200mm L F4 EF
Retail: $799
Used: $450

Canon 50mm Prime F1.8 EF
Retail: $80

Canon 17-85mm IS EFS
Retail: $599
Used: $380

The L lens is clearer than the others, but the F4 makes it hard to use in low light. The two things left I would like to have is an upgraded flash and a nice heavy tripod.

This is where I research and learn. The forums have one of the best for sale sections I have seen on a message board with a large turnover of items. Don't forget when looking at lens that the Rebel has a difference multliplyer. If the lens is a EF lens it is equal to a 35mm, which on a Rebel you need to multiply the mm by 1.6, making my 70-200mm EF have the effect of a 122-320mm EFS.

That's why my (Nikon) 70-200 is a 2.8 and has vibration reduction :spoke: :p

Seriously, that kit is a great price - but consider dumping that kit lens on eBay and getting some higher quality glass. Barring that, pick up the inexpensive 50mm 1.8 (or other similar wide aperature prime) for a good low light lens.

Yes, I agree. I would love to have the Canon 70-200mmL F2.8 IS, but for $1600-1800, it's not going to happen.

Yeah, one like Barry's? That was a 100-400mm L 2.8 IS that cost like $2,000.

On a side note, I have a Rebel XT learning DVD, so maybe someday we can watch it together when a few people get a XT. It does help a bunch on trying to learn all the settings.

na, The 100-400mm zoom telephoto is a f4.5-5.6....

its a great lens, but nothing like the one I am talking about.

the 400 I am talking about is fixed at 400mm and F2.8.. with that kinda zoom and 2.8 aperture(which is what makes the lens shine), it makes for some lethal pics. Its by far my favorite lens :D It made for outstanding sport pics. Any action Pic you see in the chronicle Football related, was more than likely shot with that lens.

This is the one that Barry had. Its what made for those awesome car pic where the car is all in Focus and the background is all blurry.

they are around 7K, here is one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/Canon-EF-400mm-F-2-8-IS-Lens-w-Hood-Case_W0QQitemZ7605624562QQcategoryZ4687QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Oh Ok, I didn't know you were talking about the prime lens. Well hell, lets just go for the 600mm. :bounce:
