View Full Version : Took the 01 to the dealer...

The dealer called and said the noises I have heard since 22k on the car are as follows...The T/O bearing is "noisy" and will be $658 to fix. The shift boot is messed up and will be $170 to fix. The ring and pinion and new clutches is $2300 to fix. The car has 54k on it. Assumptions are that the previous owners beat the crap out of the car. Any ideas?

Forget the dealer, find a good mechanic if possible and get a second opinion.

Also, seriously consider your options to repairs. In most cases it would be better to upgrade the worn out parts instead of just replacing them with the same. There is a lot of good stuff from FRPP and the aftermarket for these cars.

+1, too much $$.

I've had a new set of gears installed and bearings done for under $800. Clutches are about $80 in parts.

What Bart and Flynfink said... too much money. They are taking you for a ride! Sorry, but I don't know of anyone in the VA Beach area that I would recommend.

If you feel like it can make it down this way, we'll get you squared away for a lot less than the dealer wants to charge you
