I'm building a 1998 Cobra SVT racecar in Scotland, can anybody tell me where the engine temp sensors are?, I've located one in the water pipe beside the alternator, is this the one for the engine management system or the temp guage in the dashboard? and if so where is the other one located?. I don't have the original Rad or header tank for the cooling system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I sent you a Private Message that might help more...

But, there are Engine Coolant Temperature Sensors #2 and and Gauge Sender unit #3.

There is also an Intake Air Temparature sensor for the PCM, as far as general heat sensors go, which is not hooked to any gauge, but does change managment characteristics (spark timing, etc) depending on intake heat.

What is the use of #3 sensor?

There, picture has been revised with description.

In 1997, #2 reports to the PCM, which signals the CCRM to turn on the radiator cooling fan at 221-degrees F, and turns it off at 201-degrees F.
#3 just runs the temperature gauge on the dash. The Motorcraft Part No. for #2 (in a '97 Cobra) is F5AZ12A648AB.
If you want to fool the PCM into turning the fan on at around 180-degrees F and off at about 160-degrees F use (2) ECT sensors tee'd into the crossover tube and wired in parallel with a 160-degree thermostat.
