Ever since I installed my Bassani X pipes I keep getting the "service engine soon" error. I have the DiabloSport Predator and while I don't remember the exact code I do remember it said something about the left sensor being off or slow.

I know I can turn the 02 sensors off with the preditor but I have no idea if that will mess things up. What the heck do the 02 sensors do and will it mess up the engine if I do turn them off? It's a '99 Cobra with just under 6900 miles.

Thanks, John

I dunno about the predator but.. you can buy O2 Simulators from like summit racing for about 60 $ or so..

John, it's OK to turn off the rear O2 sensor's...and like 99Cobra said, they make a thing call MIL eliminators (if you want to spend $70)...

Really quick...... without having the exact code I cannot tell you what is wrong. But, after reading what you wrote, it actually sounds like a forward o2 sensor. If this is the case, then the MIL eliminators will not fix the issue. Shutting off the rear o2 sensors won't help either. The problem could possibly be a forward sensor. I know I'm a little late, but if you could get the code posted up we'll know for sure where the problem is. Usually if it's a rear o2 problem it'll say "Catalyst below efficiency threshold" or something like that.
