I have a 2001 Cobra Convt and would like to swap a IRS for like straight 8.8 axle. IRS has 20,000 actual miles.

What are some of the problems I will encounter?

Does it make sense? I like to run in a straight line.

Which rear end has more value, IRS or Straight axle?

I am looking for some feedback or somebody out their looking to swap.

In my opinion, the IRS would have more value than the SLA if you were to sell the car, also since only 99 to 04 were the only years it was available. However for just drag racing and high RPM dumps the SLA would reduce the grenading effect that the IRS suffers from. SLA's do have their down side as well but probably not as noticable.
