Saturday October 14 is when the show is scheduled. Hope everyone can make it plus some will try to tame the Dragon on Sunday. Dan and Rob from Pro Dyno are supposed to be there on Saturday also. Come on out and support the club. Im sure we will have a blast like last year. Hey Tony, is there a cavern tour on Sunday or just one when you guys drive over Friday? If we just have the Dragon on Sunday would it be ok if we had a cruise to Cumberland Gap on Sunday too for those who dont want to drive the Dragon but would enjoy a nice cruise with open roads and views to the top of the mountain on a volunteer basis?

i agree with john- trophy's need to be more generic. Nobody's specific car on it. (Unless it is mine, of course! LOL )

But seriously, group shots are fine, but unless every trophy is customized, leave specifics out.

No offense butthead, I would feel like this even if it were mine on there.

BTW 2, Hey every Saturday night they have a show at the KMart on Clinton Hwy. There are old muscle cars of all kinds and new ones that attend the show. Everyone starts pulling in around 5:30pm to 6pm. If anyone is interested in driving over with us after the show Saturday your welcome to come. Yes we will...I don't know what time? No one has said anything about timing of the Dragon Run. To go "fast" you would need to get there very EARLY, I'm thinking this is going to more of a "cruise" than a "fast" run of the Dragon. Of course what I call cruising some would call going fast! :D ;)

I don't think it's that no one wants to use it Allan, I think it's that everyone wants to run their car through the mountains rather than pull a trailer across the Parkway. I don't think you'll have to worry about it not getting used....it'll be going to all of these events next year and more:

Spring Drag Day
CMP
Atlanta Car Show
Talladega Gran Prix
Parkway Ford
New England Autocross
Gingerman
MSR- Houston
Fall Drag Day
And any other event it can make it to next year. (That's why I bought the F-250 so I know if I'm going to an event, it'll be there!

We will have a schedule posted this week for the Dragon. We'll meet at the Krystal's and run the dragon then go down to the "Lost Sea" which is an underground cavern/cave and do the glass bottom boat tour. Afterwards, we'll all head back to town, can run the Dragon backwards. :)

Much to my dismay I was informed that Pro-Dyno was not going to be able to attend the Ted Russel show. Not that they didn't want to come but that someone at Ted Russel hired another mobile dyno from Knoxville to be there. This is almost enough to make me not attend the show. I had plans to get a tune while at the show and now that's not possible, as I will NOT let someone I don't know fool with the tune on my car. I would love to know if this was Ted Russel Ford's idea or did one of us screw the pooch and invite someone else AFTER we had invited Pro-Dyno??? Either way I think Pro-Dyno should still be invited but I know that a show won't support TWO dyno's. I will let y'all know if I'm coming or not by Wednesday.

Let me be the first to say that Ted Russell Ford is a great club sponsor and they really back this club 100%. They sponsored our 5th Anniversary without the blink of an eye and the first time you "think" they didn't do something right, you fire off at them. That's not right! I think you need to retract that statement..

Do not post statements when you do not have all of the facts. Pro-Dyno was never "officially" invited to come and set up. The suggestion was made to the dealership and they had a local guy that they knew and would be able to do it for less. It's just makes good business sense to go with the local person and Dan said it wasn't a big deal to him because of the 4 hour drive anyway.

And for the record, we don't even know 100% if the local dyno person is going to be there anyway...sheesh! :(

Hey TONY,

LEARN TO READ! I never blamed the dealership I asked a question. AND if I want to express my opinion I WILL! I still think it stinks that Dan won't be there. SEE I said it again. My question was who's fault was it that Dan was invited and then un-invited. You TONY invited PRO-Dyno and in my book that's as OFFICIAL as it gets in this club. So while the DEALERSHIP may not have "officially" invited him YOU DID! I know it has something to do with money and in today's world what doesn't?

I guess the club shouldn't announce that something is going to happen when ALL the parties involved haven't agreed that it is going to happen. This way people won't make plans and then have those plans change less than a week from the event. It is a shame to do this to one of our vendors and his CUSTOMERS! (YES NAMELY ME!)

OH BTW....Whom would I be hurting by not attending? Not the dealership they don't get any of our registration money. So I guess it would be the club that looses. SO I am NOT taking back anything I said about the dealership as I didn't say anything about them in the first place.

cobrabitn
10-10-2006, 03:10 PM
Greg,

The idea was to have a mobile dyno at the dealership for the show since it was a big hit at the Parkway event. I called TRF to see if they were interested in doing that and they told me they would have to get with the owner. I then called Dan to make sure his schedule was clear for that weekend. Since Dan had lost money at the 5th, I didn't want him to come back empty handed like he did a couple of years ago. We told TRF that we had to have "X" number of $$ in order for Dan to drive 4 hours each way. They told me they would get back with me on it.

They then let me know they had a local guy who would not charge anything so they wanted to go that route. That message was relayed to Dan and he was okay with it. Nothing was "official" till the dealership agreed to it. We tried to make something happen and it didn't work out. That's more then others have done!

I now found out that there won't be a mobile dyno at all so you won't have to worry about a stranger tuning your car. My advice would be to set up an appointment with Pro Dyno for some time in the future.

It's not anybody's fault for trying, sorry if you cannot accept that but thanks for listening anyway.

Sounds good to me! That's a very detailed schedule, I thought you were very busy trying to get ready for this weekend. ;)

We know the Bistro has good food. The place at the lost sea will probably be overpriced since they have a semi captive audience.

Last year we made a couple of stops at pulloffs on the way to the Bistro because people wanted to stop and walk around a bit and go to the bathroom so we may need to add that to the time table just to be safe. I think we stopped for 10-15 minutes each time if I remember correctly.

That sucks about no dyno at all. Sorry Tony! I feel like my people around here let the club down anyhow. I know from here say thats what folks were excited about too is being able to Dyno there car. I have posted some flyers around town for other Cobra owners that I dont see on the road to come down to the show this Saturday and I even mentioned the dyno was going to be there. I know from experience that the Ted Russell folks are good people and for this to happen it had to be from the Dyno people themselves not from Ted Russell. Its just a dyno and I know we can all still have a great time. I say chin up 'Cheerio'

There was a small blurb about the event in Ted Russell's sales ad in the Knoxville News Sentinel earlier this week. I noticed that it was a little smaller than it has been in the past, but it should still catch a few eyes.

Guys and gals, unless the job pulls me to some far off place again, I will see all of you Sat. Sorry I have not been available for most of the events in the past year or so, but the boss keeps me on the road. Gotta bring home the bacon. Heck, I was even with in 40 miles of the nationals, in Kalamazoo, Michigan the weekend of the nationals and couldn't get enough free time to venture over to the event. But, now that I have had the opportunity to hire some folks, I should have alot more time to come to the events, and truly be a part of the club. Thanks for the patience. See ya Sat.

yeah, Tina is fine. I just don't feel much up to paying for a hotel for two nights. I wasn't feeling too excited about the show, or the Dragon. So, we will stay around here. We are going to Mt Airy on Saturday, and then cruise the Blue Ridge Parkway north to Roanoke, hit lunch, then cruise through the hills of VA homeward bound. Y'all have fun, I am sure you will.

It would be nice to have a good meal Sat night before the show. :)

Either BBQ, Italian, or steak sounds good. I can't do Japanese or Chinese because of the additives they use in the sauces (allergic reaction).

Hey I forgot about Hooters. The best breast.... I mean the best wings in town:D

(clearing throat) They have good chicken breasts too....

Is everyone game for Hooters then? They do have good sitting arrangements and they are easy to access. If so how many peeps plan on being there? Just from experiance we should get there around 6 cuz its usually full the later you go. If you guys could ask Robby and them if they want to go and Tony and Lisa are you going to be in town that early or later? My cell # 865-919-2150.

Uhhh no I don't think it's set for Hooter's I was kinda kidding. I don't think Allen likes the Hooter's atmosphere?? or maybe the food?? I don't care where we go I've eaten at most of those places you've listed. The Outback is next to my Hotel so that would be cool! :D ;) I'll call you tomorrow while were driving over.

It's not what I consider a family atmosphere for taking young children and the
wife to eat at so I don't have a big desire to go there and she definitely doesn't. I do think it would be nicer to have a good meal though after a day of driving and sightseeing through the mountains and like Greg said, there were a bunch of good places on your list.

We will have 10 as of right now. It depends on whether or not anyone else shows up at Arby's or the Inn. I don't think Tony is going to get there in time since he's not leaving until late afternoon. I guess 10 definite, maybe a few more.

haha, you know, sooner or later you wont need Torrey, or Dan to help you:rotf: . You must have something rubbing. Anyway you can see if there are burrs on the belt, before it breaks I mean. I thought you said that it looked like something was rubbing the edges of the belt?

Big Daddy

I already changed out the top pulley that was slightly dented in and as far as I can see there is nothing rubbing or out of alignment. I'll have to watch it when it's on the dyno to see if it shows up under WOT. I'll still be at drag day Pro-Dyno is going to do a little more tuning on the car and then I'll see if I can break the belt on the strip!   ;)
