The 1999 cobras had mustang on the lower rear bumper. Does it have independant rear suspension?

Yes, 1999 Cobras were the first model year for the IRS. The 04 Cobra is the last year...

One thing is missing in your description, the SVT badge on the rear. The 1999 and 2001 Cobra's had the hood similar to the v6 model of 2002. Other than the vin number, there may be some factory stickers on some parts that identify the model as well as the door sill plate which should also have the model type, year and vin number which should match the one on the dash. Crate motors may or may not have the SVT signature plate on the passenger valve cover.

If the vehicle is a genuine SVT cobra, and is listed as a 2000 or 2002 the seller may have been confused with the model year if it is not a Ford dealer selling it. If it is from a private seller, they should know what the model year it is. My guess is that it may be a 1999 SVT.

Yeah they didnt make a cobra in 2002. I think they only made the cobra r's in 2000.

I went to this site. Punched in my VIN#. It said cobra and all, but under horsepower, it said 260-305hp. I thought the 2001 cobras were rated at 320hp at the crank. Are they talking about RWHP, or is my particular motor only rated at 305hp at the crank?

If it is a 1999 or 2001 it should have 320 HP at the crank. Mine dyno'd stock at 278 rwhp and with 16% driveline loss that would make the crank HP around 330. The 260 to 305 HP numbers were for 93 through 98 Cobras.

Mine dynoed stock at 275RWHP also, and the DOB of my car is 8/01 so I guess it is just a mistake on the site.
