LOL I love that photo.

In 1969, my father bought a sweet red-over-black '66 Impala SS with the LS-1 Corvette engine add-on. That car would really scoot along.....But, alas, that was way back in the days--way back in the days before Ford would ever even remotely think about tanking-out on the so-called "future," on the SVT Program, in order to save money--in order to save money, mostly because people came to no longer trust the cut-throat (more high-priced, gas-guzzling SUV's for everybody) ethics of the Ford Motor Company, and before people came to distrust the diminishing quality of Ford's overall line-up of vehicles and their consumer-relations program...Rest in Peace, SVT. :(

cheers,

Very Nice Stan! Where those the Cragar S/S rims?? Air shocks?

I had a 69 Cougar (ok, still have it), first three mods were the Cragars, air shocks, and glasspaks. Back then everyone wanted the 351 Cleveland and my 351 Windsor was considered "dog-meat".

Man, those were the days. That 8-track would play all night long... :D

Thanks for sharing the pic.

Wow!!

Thanks for the blast from the past Stan!!!

What a cool idea for a thread!!!(Now I know why we think so much a like!!!)

My first car was a 64 Fairlane Sport Coupe... 289 K code(hi po)... bought it in 1968.
Red on red... No pics of my actual car.. but it looked kinda like this... (Without the bubble hood and lettering of course...)

Mustangs were WAY too new and cool...

For someone like me to be able to afford....
......working at the local grocery store...
So a used Hi Po Fairlane would have to do...

My first Mustang.... I never got to drive... :(
....... since I bought it wrecked... :(
1969 Mach 1 Drag Pack 428 super Cobra Jet 4 speed(top loader)...

(not my actual car... mine was a metallic red and had the long style non-shaker scoop)
http://www.pinnaclems.com/images/mach_1_%2003.JPG

I kept the engine and traded the car as a "roller" for a 1968 gold notch back "roller" 390 GT...
Which I also never got to drive.... :(

The engine finally ended in this...
1952 Ford F1 pickup converted to 428SCJ, C6, 3.91 9" rear...
Very reliable daily driver...(if I could afford the gas that week...LOL!!!)

It was fairly fast ---> 12.83 @ 106mph(1/4 mile)... (yes I ended breaking out by almost 8 tenths that day!!! lol )

My first Mustang that I actually drove was a Freaking Mustang II !!!
1975 4 cylinder 4 speed coupe !!!!
This was my daily beater and my 1st autocross car too ...
I added V8 suspension up grades (bars, springs, wheels and tires).. and tore it up for a while...
I was actually cheating like a MO FO in H stock SCCA...
Just trying to keep up with the fresh crop of foreign front drivers that eventually..... ATE MY LUNCH ... BIG TIME !!!

I don't have pics of my early Mustangs...

But after many years past.. I finally got my dream Mustang... something I could autocross, drive on the street all I wanted or OPEN TRACK!!!!

Gail calls it ......... Her!!!

And she's a VICIOUS little BIOTCH!!!...LOL!!!

My first Ford was a "hand-me-down" '91 Ford Explorer XLT. During a move to California towing a 6x12 trailer where I lived for 8 months, it blew a head gasket and I thouht it was the end. 10 months later I was still driving it with dreams of dropping in a 302, putting some '95 Cobra Rs on it, lowering the ride about 2"(it wasn't 4x4) and I would have been content with that. Then I got a job making a lot of money and decided to purchase the Cobra I have today....back in Dec of '99 with 16K miles on her. I haven't looked back since.

Nice pics guys wish I could say I was around back then to show off pics like these as well, however my first car was simply a 98 Dodge Dakota Sport 4 banger before I got poisoned by the snake. I just really enjoy being the only 24 year old I know that was able to obtain a Mystichrome.
