I'm sending in the registration form and flier to Edmund to post on the club website, preparing for the Parkway Show in late August.

Time to restart the effort to get organized, obtain raffle prizes, trophies, and a new record number of cars in the show.

Got my new engine in the Cobra, ready to show it off.

This is the SCMC's largest show to date out of all of our regional shows. We had 145 cars there last year and it would be cool to take an informal poll to see if you plan on going to this show? Please post if you plan on going to the show and what type car you are bringing. You don't have to be a club member to post, we just want to know who all will be going to the event...

I'll start the list:

Tony Sorrentino - 2004 Mystichrome Cobra Coupe - (display)
John Pearson - 2006 White Mustang GT
David Ridgeway - 1997 Rio Red SVT Cobra Coupe
Lisa & Clarence Milstead - 1997 White SVT Cobra Convertible
Jason Sutphin - 1997 Pacific Green SVT Cobra Coupe
Mike & Tina Boyle - 1997 Pacific Green SVT Cobra Convertible
Dave Stanfield - 1999 Rio Red SVT Cobra Convertible
Robbie Kiser - 2004 Competition Orange SVT Cobra Coupe
Allan & Leah Scott - 2004 Redfire SVT Cobra Coupe
Burke Dawson - 1999 Rio Red SVT Cobra Convertible
Vernon Banks - 2007 White Shelby GT 500

I was just informed that Parkway Ford has a got a permit to shut the entire street down beside the dealership for this event. That means we will have more room for show cars out on the street and we can invite vendors. If you know of anyone that would be interested in setting up a vendor booth then let us know, thanks. (Too bad we couldn't do a burnout contest??)

Allan would probably be best for contacting our club vendors.

I talked to David Phillips via e-mail and told him they need to get an Autofair guidebook and invite all of the local vendors to come out to the show.

Yeah - the Ted Russell show -- several times. Looking forward to the show at Parkway next month....

What time will you start staging cars? Trying to plan my travel up from Charlotte...

BTW - the 'big' Volvo is 600-800 lbs. lighter than the late model Cobras. It is the box it came in, but it's a relatively light box...

Two big areas that we need help with are traffic control/parking and judging.

We are hoping to get enough volunteers to help that no one has to spend the entire show working so that everyone gets a chance to enjoy it.

We are also telling everyone who will be helping to bring 2 way radios if you have them as we plan to put them to good use this year due to the size of the show.

I think the plaque looks good! My only thought was the white background on the bottom half with white car, and the top of the car blending/disappearing into the background. Something like a real light blue background to compliment the stripes on just the lower half of the plaque to provide some contrast if possible? Just a thought, not sure how it would look.

The show cost $15.00 for preregistration, $10.00 for display, and $20.00 after the early bird cut off.

I checked the link and it is working. If you are on dialup I recommend right clicking and saving it to your computer. Older versions of the Adobe Reader are not always compatible with newer PDF files so if you haven't updated recently you may need to download the current reader at www.adobe.com (http://www.adobe.com)

We will need lots of volunteers for show day to help run things smoothly, particularly in parking the cars in the right place and in judging. Please volunteer to help us out. It will be a hot day and members will need to help spell each other to keep cool enough to work the various positions needed for a show of this magnitude.

Thanks in advance for your willingness to help. We will be setting up early Saturday morning, starting around 6:30 to enable us to be ready for an 8:00 start.

Kenny
From what I remember it was cash only last year and first come first serve with a sign up list. If you go ahead and let them know then they may already have a list and will get you on it. Post the question down in their forum in the vendor section and I'm sure they will give you a reply.

Mocksville is off I-40 and is north of Statesville. It is approx. 20 minutes from Winston-Salem and about 10 minutes north of Statesville (depending on what speed you drive :) ).

Thanks Guys, If I were going to be in Statesville tonight I would meet you guys in Mooresville. However I will be in Mocksville instead, I don't want to have to back track. I can meet you guys anywhere off of I-40 at either exit 168 or exit 170 either one. There's a 4-Brothers Amoco at the end of the ramp at the 168 or there's a Stagebrush at the end of 170.
I may show the car not sure yet? Is there wouldn't mind getting in on some of the door prizes maybe.

Mocksville is just east of Statesville off off I-40 about 20 minutes, well sometimes in about 13 minutes.. That' my record set in my 1985 GT, I haven't been as bold these days and it was about 2:00 in the morning back then as well.

Just in case my # is 336-816-2358

See you guys in the Morning sometime.

Enjoyed the show guys -- had to try 3 times to get the parking Nazi to actually let me in the parking lot -- he was certain the Volvo was there as a spectator, not as a participant. LOL As for the heat --- well, I'd vote for trying to move the date into Sept. or Oct.......

cobrabitn
08-26-2007, 09:05 PM
We can't move the date because so many other clubs have shows in September and we'd all be competing for the same show cars. October, we have the dragon run and the Ted Russell show. It is hot every year but several years we had overcast which kept temps down. It can also be 90 plus degrees in September, too. The dealership does not want to move the date either because it has to do with kids going back to school. The date was picked because it never has rained on that date since we started the show.

I thought everyone did a good job dealing with the heat, maybe next year it'll be overcast and cooler.
