Dick Landy, the popular cigar-chomping engine builder and driver who campaigned successful Dodge factory race cars in a variety of classes including Pro Stock throughout the 1960s and early '70s, died Jan. 11 of kidney failure. He was 69.

Just found out that last week Bobby Hamilton pasted away and another one just happened today Benny Parsons died of cancer.


All the drivers from back in my day that I used to read about in news papers like Stock Car News (now they are magazines) and then got to see some of them in person and then some I just got to see (ABC Wide World of Sports) them on black and white TV.

Even though Dick Landy was a Chrysler guy... I always thought he was great for the sport!!! A very sharp and colorful character who could build some really fast stuff!!! All the Ford guys had to respect him!!! You never knew what he was going to pull out of his hat!!!

And you just got to love the ever present CIGAR!!!
