On my way back home from the gym last night a guy decided to pull out in front of me while I was going through an intersection. His fault, I had the green light and was in the inside lane when he pulled out, went over the outside lane and into my lane. Was doing about 35mph, but couldn't slow down in time to avoid the collision. The bumper, front pass 1/4 panel and headlight are scratched up.

I'm SO F#$KING pissed I didn't call the cops. Was my first wreck so I didn't know what to do. :(

Surely you grabbed the guy's information, especially his license plate number, driver's license information, and insurance info...did he admit fault?

Call the police now and ask what steps you should take. In most minor collisions, they recommend simply trading insurance information, anyway...

He didn't admit fault, only stated "Where did you come from....."you had your blinker on". The vehicle that had the blinker on was the car next to me who turned right.

He had no insurance card on him....he said they were in his other vehicle. Got his insurance on the phone with them now, going to the police station after I get off the phone to fill out an incident report.

Well everybody....FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!

His insurance company is investigating a "coverage problem".

Probably because he doesn't have any insurance, but in that case even if I did call the cops it wouldn't had mattered. Thank goodness that State Farm has a $250 deductible for non-insured people.

I hate to hear about your car Mike but I am glad you are working it out where you can get it fixed. I am shocked that you didn't call the cops since he was blatantly at fault. That makes me wonder why you didn't call them?? :doubt:

I can clarify one thing...had you invited the police to the scene, he would have been issued a hefty ticket for not having proof of insurance, in addition to establishing fault via police report. I am struggling with this right now from an accident I had in NOVEMBER! Only, my guy fled the scene as he was also driving without license and "had a record." It was suggested that small claims court was the only way to recover my $1000 deductible (no unins. motorist coverage). At least you weren't hurt.

OUCH!!

Sorry to hear about that Mike... :(

It sure could have been a lot worse though... That is very fixable.

Tank to your ins. co. to see if it is not too late to file a report. If you have the plate number, the other driver could be held with some responsibility for being in the wrong.

It could have been a lot worse for sure. Glad you are o.k.
