View Full Version : Is there a new Cobra coming out?

In another forum I saw rumor of a new Cobra to be announced. Not a Shelby, just the reg'lar. It sure would make sense. I suppose it would be expensive.

Said watch the March auto show out east. There sure was no talk at the Chicago auto show. Has there been any word about a new Cobra?

are you referring to the AC Cobra concept?

Probably going to come out with a production version of the new Shelby Cobra roadster that Ford had a prototype of a couple of years ago. I think it's supposed to take the place of the Ford GT and sell MSRP for $80-90K.

I haven't heard of any Mustang Cobra's but I have heard rumors of a new Boss Mustang?? ANYONE ELSE HEAR ANYTHING???

yeah, I have heard the Boss is coming back, and the Bullitt.

No, this wasn't a AC Cobra concept. I guess I wouldn't normally attach much credibility to a rumor but it makes so much sense in this case. Why the heck wouldn't there be a non-Shelby, regular Cobra? SVT is still in business and they have to do something. The Shelbys have been built. THey're too expensive and very profitable. Why not a reg'lar Cobra with that 350 engine??

post a link to this rumor. I have not seen it.

I saw another one, too. It mentioned the March Auto show in New Jersey or New York or someplace out east. I can't find that link though. It's somewhere on the same forum.

A new Non-GT500 Cobra would be great.

I believe it is the concept Cobra roadster with the V10 modified truck motor. It would be nice to see another SVT Cobra mustang but unfortunately that is the Shelby GT500 or at least for the next 4 years anyway. March is not too far away. I did not hear anything at the Philadelphia car show last week so more than likely will be released in NY. Just have to wait and find out.

... that is the Shelby GT500 ...
I think that Ford is all done with the Shelby's. And SVT needs work. I could be wrong, but shipping cars out to Shelby when the same thing could be accomplished in-house without the Shelby name and expense doesn't make sense.

That's just the thing the Shelby GT500 DO NOT GO TO SHELBY for anything. The new Shelby Mustang GT does. The GT500 was our next SVT Cobra until some marketing genius decided to get Carrol involved!
