Just returned from three days at Road America. The Midwest Invitational is an open-track event on Friday and Sunday on the 4 mile, 14 turn road course at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Saturday is an autocross which amounts to posting your best time out of 4 to 6 sessions. SCMC was well represented with Peter Calvert placing 3rd in class ZP (all non-Ford, track modified) with a time of 2:37:646 in his 05 Z51 Corvette. Lew Groth was 1st in class IP (94-04 Normally-Aspirated Cobra, track modified) with a time of 2:40:629 in his 95 Cobra R. It took a carbon fiber bodied C6R Corvette to beat out Fred Fetzer 2:27:863 and Bruce Cameron 2:29:778 in their 2000 Cobra R's for best time of the event. Fred and Bruce competed in class UNR (Unlimited Race Car).
