Looking at options for tires.

The Hoosier Cup tires show the following wheel recommendations:
275/35R18 = 10-10.5" rim.

The Hoosier A6/R6 (and most other non-Hoosier tires) show:
275/35R18 = 9-11" rim.

Thinking about going with 18x9.5 rims for track wheels. Would the cup tires be an issue with these (given that it is 1/2" below the 'recommended' spec)? Most of the info I can find on the Mustangs running the cup tires are running 10" wide rims. Looking for slightly used tires, so I am limited by what is available at the time. If I run across some cup tires, don't want to pass them up if they will be fine on the 9.5" rim.

Until now I have not seen published data on mounting 275's on 10.5" rims...however, I did buy a set of 10.5" wide wheels with 275's mounted on them and it just didn't look right. They really seemed stretched on...but I have no idea how they handled as I removed them.

Usually you see 315's on 10.5" rims...

Hoosier Cups will fit on 9" wheels... That's what I have on my car..

But...

I would do more track events and stay with "R" compound street tires.

$.02
