We now have a room booked for the get together after the AutoFair on Saturday's event.

We will have a "private" room at the Texas Land and Cattle Steak House which will hold up to 50 people but they can accommodate more if we have a definite answer on attendees by Saturday morning.

The restaurant is located about 3 minutes from the speedway and the address is:

Texas Land and Cattle Steakhouse
7779 Lyles Lane
CONCORD, NC, 28027
Ph: 704 / 510-0021
Fax: 704 / 510-2245

http://www.texaslandandcattle.com/u...NM%20%20CO2.pdf

Please verify on page one if you plan to attend the dinner out. While we were going to set up a cookout, this will be easier on all parties and in case of bad weather, we won't have to worry about the cookout being washed out. Here's to hoping to a dry weekend!

Also, since the group will be so large, you will be charged a 20% gratuity with your meal. They also have a cash bar which will be a "pay on your own" for your drinks.

Here's to having a great kick off for the 15th Anniversary of the SVT Cobra!

I'm also thinking that we do something a little different this year due to the low turnout we always have on Sunday. We will ask the Ford people to go out and pick the "Best of Show" on Sunday morning. That means the judging will be done on Saturday and those awards will be given out but the car that represents the club will be picked on Sunday since they will be there that day. In the event that they pick a car that won on Saturday then they we can look and see who would have won the award in that class and name them the "Best in Class". I may also do "President's Pick" on Sunday, too. Thoughts?

blueblazes
02-29-2008, 02:40 PM
seems to me like that would almost be like punishing those people who couldnt make it on sundays. Im a full time student and work mainly thur/fri/sat/sun so its financially more difficult for me to get off two days in a row as opposed to just a sat.

cobrabitn
02-29-2008, 03:45 PM
The problem is the speedway does their presentation on Sunday and we have to have someone represent us on Sunday. It would be more like rewarding the people who do come on Sunday rather than punishing the ones that don't, right? There would still be 6 "Best in Class" awards given out on Saturday that would not be given out on Sunday. Basically, we split the awards up so those that can make it on Sunday get something and those that can't still have an opportunity to win something. Mike T cannot make it on Saturdays because he works on Saturdays, so we would be punishing him because he doesn't take two days off, too. Would that be fair to him? He too is on a limited budget, it's not easy and I understand where you are coming from........but I am trying to find a solution to where everyone gets something out of it and not just those that can make it on just Saturday. I promise you, if you can come up with a good solution to the problem, you have my undivided attention. :D

I am for not awarding a best of show until sunday; president's pick as well. I have no problem with the same person winning best of class as well as best of show if they are there both days. But, just because they won on Sat. it isn't a given they will win BoS on Sunday.

No matter what is done, it needs to be decided beforehand, and posted here as well so that EVERYONE SHOULD UNDERSTAND that is how it will be done.

This is a no whine zone! ;)
unless I am doing the whining.

and that won't be for not winning an award!

well, it might be- for not getting the dirty car award :rotf:

Tony do the BoS and PP on Sunday from the cars that are there. AND like Lisa says if they are there both days then they should be able to win on both days.

THIS IS NOT PUNISHING anyone this is making sure the BoS is there for the Food Lion Presentation on Sunday afternoon.

I was there last year and the majority of the clubs there handed out the awards on Sunday afternoon. I think in the past the club has given away the awards on Sat and was hardly anyone to represent the club on Sun because they had already gotten their award, so why be there on Sun? Last year we had 4 cars represnt our club on Sun!!!! And everyone else had like 10 or more.
Lets say we give away the BOS on Sun, that means we can already narrow it down to who is attending Sun for the shot at BOS. Anyways I believe all awards should be given out on Sunday afternoon and if the people aren't there to claim then they are still given the award but VIA mail.
FLAME SUIT ON AND READY!!:D

97whitevert
02-29-2008, 08:47 PM
what about ONLY the cars that show up on sunday would be eligible for any award?

(THAT ought to cause some conversation!)

I have done my time at being there 2 days, twice a year! We used to have no problem with having people to show up on Sundays. In fact, we frequently had to BEG for MORE tickets from other clubs that didn't use all of their tix.

It's really tough for us to keep being there both days- mosty because C has to be up at 5am all week long, so to do it on the weekends too makes it hard to recover from; and for Me too, since I seem to need to sleep 26 hrs a day right now.

RF Cobra
02-29-2008, 10:29 PM
That sounds fair to me. When we can go on Saturday we still can't go on Sunday because we have other obligations. That's just the way it is and I have no problems with doing those awards on Sunday.

If the judging for the awards is done on Saturday then those awards should be given out on Saturday. If the winner of the award needs to be present on Sunday then the award should be given based on those who attend on Sunday. Personally I don't go to Autofair to win an award, but if they were going to have to be mailed then the winner should have to pay for the shipping. It's not fair for the club to have to pay, but it also isn't fair to tell someone who wins an award on Saturday they have to pay to have it mailed because they wont be given out on Sunday. Most people who only go on Saturday have very good reasons for only going on Saturday and should not be penalized by having to pay to have their award mailed. To me that does not send a very friendly message to our members (sounds more like trying to bribe members to make them attend events - not something we want to project).

:firebounc (not really trying to flame you though :) )

BTW, Redfire still rules! ;)It was just a thought is all. I don't have any problem either way it goes because I plan on being there both days. Didn't mean to make it sound like bribery. I also don't attend events to just to get an award. I plan for the worst and hope for the best. If I have my hopes on winning an award at every event then on the day I don't get one I would be upset. I tend to look at it as there will always be someone cleaner than mine. I agree with all you thoughts Allen, except for the quote about REDFIRE still rules. I like to say TORCH RED for the money!!:D

No, the majority of the awards will be on Saturday, just the other two will be given out Sunday. I'm not a fan of giving out more than one award per person and we have never done that in the past to win BIC and BOS, so I suggest we let the Ford Racing people pick a second car on Sunday if that person who wins BOS wins on Saturday too.

Then we won't have to worry about shipping and if you already won BIC, odds are someone else will win BOS anyway. I think this is the easiest and fair way to do this, that way Sunday only people get a chance. No, I don't go on Sundays anymore either but I'm signed up this year because of the Ford folks.

And you're right, it's not about the awards, it's about getting together.

I strongly believe that the company officers should make this decision and everybody has to abide by it. Unfortunately though some people like myself just cant go on Sunday. To play devils advocate is it possible that the real individuals/cars that should be named BOS or Pres. pick won't be attendance on Sunday?? So it comes down to one thing simply we cant get anyone to come on Sunday so to help with that issue we have to give out two awards on Sunday. The next autofair will be number 6 for me. I look forward to the fact that it looks like we are going to have members cars in this event. Where as in the past our numbers have declined. (Fall autofair maybe 20 cars)

Each car entry is allotted two people passes and one car pass. There should be some extra people passes because several of us are only using one pass. We'll send out a mailer via E-mail explaining everything about next week.

I have been trying to find out who is coming down from Dearborn, MI? When I find out, I'll post here.

We have tried numerous places for a banquet and the price ranged from $30.00 to $50.00 a person and several of us thought that was too much money so we are trying to set up a "Steak out" somewhere close to the speedway. We're going to keep the cost under $15.00 a person to include a 12 - 16 oz ribeye steak, rolls, corn, macaroni salad, slaw, possibly beans, and desert. We'll keep you posted this week on what the final plans are and the location.

Fax: 704 / 510-2245

http://www.texaslandandcattle.com/uploaded/dinnermenu/Dinner%20Menu%20NM%20%20CO2.pdf

:bounce:

dont suppose anyone found a 32 valve plaque that goes on the coil covers, I had placed it up there since I hadn't been able to find glue to restick it to the coil cover if you did find it let me know.
