Hi all! I just bought me a 97' Cobra with 38,000 miles on it! Never thought I could love a car almost as much as my husband!!! Actually he found it for me, and it is stock, but has been lowered. I'll post pics once this weather warms up a bit and they get all this sand off the roads! Look forward to chatting with you all!

I don't know...would it be fun to have a Cobra in a place where there's mountains?

Heck Yeah!!

Welcome to the boards!

Thanks for the Welcomes, glad to be here. Tazz, I'm in Fountain, about 20 miles south of Colorado Springs. I'm originally from Kansas, but would never leave Colorado. The snow here is not bad, but there is an awful lot of sand on the road.:(

Yes, I know where Fountain is. I agree I would have stayed there but I had to come back to Michigan. I miss cruising the Gold Camp road and Garden of the Gods. Colorado was great so much to do and most of it was free.

Again, Thanks for the continued welcomes. Tazz, I am in a Mustang Club here called Sinister Stangs. We cruised Garden of the Gods last weekend after our monthly meeting and a dyno day. My car is stock so Dyno'd 250rwhp. Guess that's about right where it's supposed to be. We are discussing the Rocky Mt. Mustang Roundup in Steamboat Springs. I have never been, but hear it's pretty amazing.

I wish I could join you all for the trip but my car is a little stuck in the garage due to the white stuff and the ice. I'm sure you will have a great time. Please post some pictures if you have them. I need to go to Casa Baunetas(SP) for some food.

tazz, I'll post some pics when I figure out how to! Man I haven't been to Casa Bonita in a long time. Go to Water World with the kids, and to Bandimere Speedway for Ford events, that's about it. Here's a question for ya, I see you had a 97 Cobra..on the coolant resevoir, mine does not have a cold fill line, or a line marked hot. Do you just assume the fill line is cold and above it is hot? Does that make sense?

go to www.photobucket.com It is free. Upload your pictures there, and then copy the link and paste here in a post. It is real easy to use.

nckissfan, I'll give that a try this evening, thanks. I already have photos on Kodak Gallery, maybe that would work the same way?

02-23-2008, 05:32 PM
Yes, I wish alot of times I was in Co, Yes that should be full when cold. The newer one have the same coolant tank. Well I'm thinking of trying to get time off and coming out for a little bit and vist some of the old haunts.

Tazz, thanks for the coolant response. Also, when topping off the fluids..rather than Ford Motorcraft, what do you use for say, brake fluid, and tranny fluid? Are synthetics alright for these?

Thanks for the coolant info Tazz. Also, on topping off fluids...What do you recommend other than Ford Motorcraft products? Such as Brake fluid and Tranny fluid, are synthetics alright for these? Here is a link to some pics of my Cobra. It's a 97' With 39,000 miles, Stock except for Ford racing springs, and A K&N Filter. All Black leather interior. http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLandingSignin.jsp?Uc=qun7rkk.2raxw27k&Uy=-y1xjll&Upost_signin=Slideshow.jsp%3Fmode%3Dfromshare&Ux=0

Great looking Cobra, I use royal purple for everything great product. Brake fluid is debatable and we have guys on here can give you the break down on the brake fluid. I know it has been discussed on here a few times.

Very nice Cobra! Welcome again!

Thanks Tazz and Venom, I just love my car!! Took me forever to get that link figured out! I intend to keep the car stock, I know...boring. A member of my Mustang club here is trying to push me to get h-pipes for a meaner sound. He tells me that people are gonna think it's not a real Cobra, and that he's heard v-6's louder than mine. The car really is quiet, my son said it dosen't even sound like a Mustang! Had the car dyno'd and it ended up with 250 rwhp. Funny thing was, I had the car running, and when the guy went to pull it in, he tried to start it again, then laughed and said it was so quiet he didn't know it was running. I really bought it just to cruise. It's not a daily driver. I worry about ruining the car with mods. Maybe I'm just no fun? Plus my hubby has a 90 Gt with plenty mods, so he tells me I'm lucky just to have the car! He's more about speed, I'm more about look.

Well it is yours and do as you please. But if you want a great sound put the borla on it. We will help out where ever we can around here.

02-26-2008, 03:30 PM
Thanks again Tazz, appreciate your quick responses. Does taking off the cats always mean you'll smell the exhaust real bad? That's one thing I don't like about my husbands, the exhaust smell is terrible!

02-27-2008, 05:45 PM
I never had exhaust smell in my 97. Just got louder with the Borla and no cats. I don't remember but does Fountain have emissions testing??

02-27-2008, 05:52 PM
Colorado just did away with emissions testing.
