Hey Gang,

Here in Or-E-gun they require a front license plate. In the area I live they are cracking down and I fear I must make the move to display it.

What is everyone using- other than the O/E bracket?

When I lived in Illinois (required front plate) I used this mounting bracket . Works great!!

I have a new in the box Horsepower By Hermann front plate bracket for sale.

Hope this info helps,

You can always do what I do, tell them you had damaged the front bumper and you haven't replaced the front bracket yet because it's on order from the dealership. It has worked for me for the last 8-9 years.

If you don't want to go that route, try the link below. This is pretty cool.

Thanks guys, I'll look into those. Here is a neat one that I found (if a front plate bracket can be "neat"): http://www.skenedesign.com/FPBracket/index.htm

That bracket is pretty cool. If I end up by putting one on, I think that'll be it.

spf1410~ So after four years I thought it was about time to fab-up a front license plate holder as well. Yes, FORD does include a license plate kit but I wasn't about to drill into my front bumper in case I wanted to remove it again.

A few runs to the local hardware store, Home Depot for new drill bits/material and PepBoys for 5/32" vacuum caps I had my supplies.

Truth be told, I actually did this now since a friend of mine told me that a lot of tickets were being handed out along with all of the on/off ramp checkpoints made me think twice about receiving a costly ticket. I guess I've just been lucky so far.

From the DMV:
"If you use one vehicle plate instead of two vehicle plates, you can receive a fine of $50 to $200 and mandatory surcharges of $50."

Now for the pics...

Top (I left a good 2" to avoid any rubbing):

Here's the main brace which I bolted up right in front of the intercooler. I drilled five smaller holes where the plate holder attaches to. It had to be a two piece item as the front braces for the bumper would not allow the whole unit to be positioned correctly.
