So our local scca had there first auto-x of the season, and I got to take my "new to me" 97 cobra to the track! (I have been very impatiently waiting for over 7 months:D ). Anyways, the weather held out long enough for me to work and run in the dry. It was a great course, technical in the begining, and fast towards the end (got to run up to 6000 in second in 2 different sections of the course), best time were in the 54's, my best was 61.019 on street tires. So glad summer is finally here!!!!:bounce:

Very, Very Nice....car looks good and glad to hear you ran well. Did you like the suspension set-up? First time you have had a chnace to really test it I would guess.

Talk with you soon....

Yeah, it was the first time I was able to really push her! Very solid car, really need to improve the driver mod:D . Sounds fricken unbelievable at WOT. Once I learn how to use them, I am really going to love the brakes. I guess the only place that I would like to improve (other than a cage so I can go open trackin) is the seats and belts. Going from recaro's with 6 point harnesses to stock 97 Lazy-boy's with a seat belt that retracts from the top AND BOTTOM really leaves a lot to be desired. I just purchased some stock seat belts off ebay from a 96, that have a solid mount at the bottom, so that will help alot, but I have to pull the light bar to swap them out, and that is a little bigger project I felt like taking on right now. Hopefully before the next autocross!

Keep in touch....can't wait to see the new cobra!:bounce:

Try to keep Saturday 5/31 open in the a.m. as a muffler swap out for your Cobra is being planned along with an install on your Dad's '04 and my '03. Looking to do an article in Snakebite about the event w/ pics, etc...

More to follow soon.

By the way....love the Vanity Plate!

It must have been nice to run in the dry, slicks in the rain doesn't work to well huh.

I will try to keep the 31st open, but I am going to have to play it by ear. Colleen's birthday is the 29th, and I am not sure if we are going to celebrate it the weekend before or after. But I really want to go, maybe just run up there for the day.

If you happen to talk with Gus you have to ask him what he does with the trial prototype products. I would love to swap out the exhaust on my new project car (86 hatch with a 93 cobra motor, 95 cobra front suspension, 04 cobra rear IRS suspension and exhaust) and run a corsa exhaust. It currently has a flowmaster exhaust, and on the highway, it droans REALLY bad. I would be more than willing to put corsa stickers all over the car and be a rolling billboard. :D

I did still win my class and that's all that matters I guess, in hindsight it might have been more fun to run ESP with you guys though.

when is the next event? I would like to come down to CBus to take part.

There is a auto-x driver's school on the 3rd, and then a normal points event on the 4th. I would like to do both, but might have to choose one or the other. The driver school is nice, and I have done it the past 2 years. They try and set everybody up with a local experienced driver of similar vehicle type, and have them ride around with you. THe really nice thing about the driver school, is that last year, I think I got like 13 or 14 runs in. Where at a normal points event, you get 4 or 5 if you are lucky. Let me know what you are thinking, as the school usually fills up fast, and you have to pre-resister, no walk-ins for the school. You register on dlbracing.com

I'm going to instruct at the school this year and run on Sunday.

Well, I think we are going to have family plans on sat, so no auto-x school for me. :( But as of right now, I am still going to the points event on Sunday.

See you Sunday, maybe an event in the future I could co-drive NasT97 and I'll bring some real tires for it. I do have a set of 17 x 9's with 275/40-17 Kumho 710's in the garage.

Another great AX in the books, maybe someday some of my fellow Cobra brothers will come out and join me in the fun, that is with the exception of Mike as he's been to both events this year, and no rain this Sunday. I thought mike did a really good job Sunday on street tires and was surprised at how well the car seemed to handle from the passenger seat.

I am here and watching. Will be in Columbus in June for the MCA Grand National Mustang Show, looking to participate in a couple auto-x's ( Cleve or Cbus), and going to 3-4 cruise-ins up here each week...

80% sure not going to VIR at this point as cash flow is tight these days....

I am a SCCA Member. Is the Auto-X in Cbus an SCCA sponsored event? Cleve SCCA has one per month I am considering attending beginning in June.

Oh Yeah, Super Summit Show in June at Summit Racing in Talmadge, OH also on the agenda as well as Pinks All Out at Norwalk in early June.

See you all soon I hope...

Yes, the AX's in Cbus are SCCA events with the next one being this Sunday. So is anybody else going to be there or am I going to be the only one? I did go down to the shop and look at my Cobra last week, I might start back to work on it this week if everything goes well.

Yeah, you might be flying solo this week chris, as I will be out of town. But I will be back for the 31st. I also am already planning on the auto-x event on the june 15th.

I am all ready for the MCA event on the 20, 21, and 22nd. I took Friday off to get the cobra ready for the show.

I am also planning on the Dublin Arthritis Show on July 12th, then the Buckeye Stangs show in August 2nd

There are a few scattered auto-x events that I am going to try to make as many as possible. Mike Let me know when you are thinking about auto-x ing up in cleveland, I would love to run up there and run with some different people.

As for VIR, I am out, if by luck, I run into a rollbar, I would love to do a beaverrun day or something. Much cheaper...closer... etc

The event on the 31st is a two day event you have to run both Saturday and Sunday, that's why the entry fee is more for it. I don't know if I'll run it or go to Mid Ohio that weekend is the OVR National and Jim is going to run his Honda at it I believe.

I'm probably going to go ahead and run the AX this weekend, just depends on what work is like with the Holiday this week. You missed a great event at KK today, almost like the 411 course very fast and used the banking.

Chris...you need to give me a call about these things. I sat around and did nothing today. With this upcoming weekend, do you have to run both days?

Otherwise, the next event that I planned on running was on Father's day June 15th.

psycho43142
05-27-2008, 06:04 PM
Yes you pay for both days scoring will be fast lap Saturday+fast lap Sunday for a total time. They said if you paid and only showed up for one day you could run but there would be no way you could win doing this. I've run 4 AX the last 6 weeks and it looks like I'l be running the next 3 weekend to go 7 for 9, and one of the off weekends I went to the drag strip. If I don't see you this weekend I'll see you on Father's Day. I finnished 5 in pax yesterday and second in class by .006 seconds, here's a link to the results.
