I'm pretty sure they have the XTi. I have good ol' fashioned Digital Rebel....Edmond's ol' camera, and it does the job. Give me a few days to post up recent pics I've shot with it.

Problem is the 40D is only about $100 more and is a much better camera for the money. Sure it doesnt come with a lens at that price, but I think its worth the extra cashola.

You are right. You have the 300D. They have the XTi. That is what I had also, the 350D. The newer camera is the 400D and the newest is the 450D.

Yes, but I'm happy you talked me into the 5D. It has a big learning curve removing the easy preset functions, but I really like the full frame sensor.

Agree, but if you are on a budget:
Less camera with more lens is better than more camera with less lens. Bodies become 'obsolete' quickly these days - but lenses do not (unless you own Canon and they switch the lens mount on you :p).

One thing to consider with lenses:
There are 'full frame' lenses and 'digital' lenses (in Nikon speak 'FX' and 'DX'). All Nikon digital cameras (to date) use both, but the DX lenses put the D3 (full frame body) in to crop mode. If you are going to spend the bucks on a 'pro' level lens (probably out of your budged at this point anyway) - don't buy a crop/digital/'dx' lens unless you have a very good reason to do so. Stick with the full frame lenses so you can continue to use them in the future.

Oh and for the record - what I currently have to part with are:
Nikon D70 kit with 18-70 lens. The 18-70 is one of the well regarded consumer lenses for Nikon. I also have a Nikon 70-300ED consumer lens.
The D70 is a good camera, but is a little long in the tooth at this point (only 6 megapixels and is similar to the original Canon rebel). There is nothing wrong the the camera or lenses - just don't use them anymore since I go the D200 and 18-200VR lens. Haven't used the 70-300 since I got my 70-200 2.8 lens.

I have the Canon 30D and really like it though I will probably never realize its full potential unless I get my butt in gear and learn it.

Thats a point I usually tell people, but more often than not it falls on deaf ears.. :(
