Beautiful! Now let's see if you can drive Mid-Ohio!

Where are the rest of you boys? C'mon...Open Track event in our backyard at a very reasonable cost! We couldn't get to VIR due to conflict and cost...there are no excuses at this event.

Step up...Post up...and get that Cobra prepared.

Where all all you Midwest Cobra owners that were aching to get to VIR and did not go?

Mid-Ohio is more than convenient and cost effective!

I'm going out of state this weekend but will get my entry in when I get back. I also have some new tires on the V just for this event, I'm calling them summer tires but might be a little more than that, I found a deal on a set of Toyo RA1's, new but they are shaved and man do they have some grip, not as much as my Hoosiers A6's, but way better than any street tire I've ever had on a car. So all I have left after paying is brake pads and bleeding the brakes again and look out.

Well, between the fact that I am not going to have the budget for harnesses before then, and I couldn't get off work, looks like all my open track fun is going to have to wait until '09

The buckeye BMW Club is a having an event at MO in August also and one in Oct. I don't know if I'll make either of them but I going try to make Gingerman for sure.

Cannot Wait!

I'm not going to make it due to some personal issues that arose, yes even I take time a break from racing once in a while, maybe Gingerman.

Good luck, you will have a great time, I am out too many obligations and I may have the car sold! He is going to bank today to see if he can get financing.

08-05-2008, 03:51 PM
John, congrats on the possible sale, now we just need to get you back in a pony!

Mike, have fun, as I am sure you will have enough for both of us. I will be day dreaming of you blasting around the track all day as I sit at work wishing I was there with you.

I will try to post up pictures over the weekend...

The bad news is when I went to bleed my brakes, change my oil, etc...before Friday, I found that my "pristine, never road-raced, Cobra" that I picked up last Winter actually has been road-raced HARD. The evidence became apparent when I had the rims/tires off bleeding the brakes. In short, new brake pads, rotors, brake lines, dust shields are now at all 4 corners. I also found a small oil leak and cannot pinpoint where it is coming from..only seepage when the engine is running. There is no oil leak as the car sits. I changed the oil and will try to pinpoint that after the track day w/ some dye. Finally the rear-end shows some signs of seepage although it it not leaking right now. Ideally, that should come out and be redone - a big job! Other small pieces of evidence are there too.

I still love the Cobra, its mine, and all this is no big deal. Just pointing out that anytime you buy a used car, put it on a lift and get the story yourself. Do not take a sellers word for it.

Friday is go FAST day! My brother Pat will probably dust us all in his Mini CooperS.

BigFish---now go get that GT500...or better yet buy a Terminator and put the extra in the bank!

Mike, sorry to hear about your issues....

I know buying cars from private sellers can really bite you in the a$$, trust me, the jerk that I bought my cobra off of.......nevermind, a story for another day:D

Anyways, it is almost 9 at night, and I have been thinking about you all day, and waiting for pictures patiently. SO GET THEM UP HERE!!!!!:rotf:

WHAT A DAY!...a perfect day of sun, cool temps, extremely fast driving, and showing that a SVT Cobra can hang with Lambos, Ferarris, Porsches, M3s, Vettes, and an Audi R8 on a road course! Mid-Ohio rocks too - if you ever get a chance to drive it you just have too. Great turns, very smooth, and a back straight that allows you to open up your car as far as your braking will allow into turn 4. I was hitting 125 mph and could have gone more except for my stock Cobra brakes that made downshifting & braking early for Turn 4 a must. Even my brother's Mini CooperS was hitting 105 mph and killing people in the twisties.

I am still smiling at how much fun I had. I cannot see choosing drag over a road course event ever.

Pics up soon! Have to go coach football this a.m.
