A copy of the registration form is attached to this post. Classes are listed on the form. Get those preregistrations in and save yourself a lot of time waiting in line on Saturday morning!

If you will be helping with the show, be sure to bring two way radios if you have them. They are essential to communications since the show covers a large area.

Thanks Chris and Robbie. Chris, I would suggest trying to get their early enough to clean your car as it is sometimes difficult to do both but we know that. Or maybe you and Kevin can substitute for each other during the show. It's a pretty big event as you know!! What we can do is if you are parking, we can leave you at Cobra Alley so you can park and clean at the same time as time allows...

The positions for "floaters" is so that we can relieve people during the event to cool off and go in the club trailer and get them a drink, or two...

I thought about doing something for all of the people that are going to help out at the event and I am not sure I can do this due to time constraints. If I did a "dash plaque" for all of the members/helpers on Cobra Alley who help out, what do you think about that and what should be on the plaque??

In other words if someone designs it, I can imprint it on a dash plaque and hand them out at the show. Totally up to you all if you are interested??

red04svtcobra
07-31-2008, 07:10 AM
Sounds great Tony. I think a group picture in front of the dealership would be cool. I know it wouldn't be given out at the event but could be given out the next time seen at an event. The other option is instead of imprinting the group picture on the plaque just make it to were you can slide a actual photo behind a piece of plastic. All you would need to do is make a plate with the names on it. I wouldn't have a problem taking the picture, I'm sure Allan would mind either since he is the SCMC photographer, and then emailing everyone the picture I or Allan took so they could print it out themselves. This way you can still hand out the plaques at the show with the names just not with the picture.:D

You can still show it, but I would recommend not putting tire wet on it before they dyno it because it will sling it all over the side of your car. You'll have fun cleaning it off.

Parkway closed the section of road that runs directly behind the main dealership last year. The street separates the main dealership from the used car lot and the area where we have the cars parked for the show. The picture on the main page of the site for the event is one of the ones I took of Cobra Alley last year.

Guest parking is located up above the dealership. So, as most of the people come in for the show they walk down the closed street where we had all of our SVT Cobras and GT 500s lined up on display.

Who's doing the trophy's this year? I heard a lot of complaints about them last year.

This year's awards will be "stand up" awards with a marble base and a steering wheel top. I'll try to post what the look like later before the show. We try to have different awards every year so you don't get the same thing every year by trying to mix them up.

Let us know feedback as soon as possible so we can make adjustments for next year's event. We want this to be the biggest event in central NC and it's crucial we have feedback in plenty of time for next year. What was it people didn't like about last year's awards?

I think Cobra Alley will hold about 30 cars, not sure but there is room for you at the Inn. :)

You must an old version of adobe if you cannot download the form on the first page. Go to www.adobe.com and download the latest version, I believe it is version 9, and you will be able to download the form. If you are still having problems, let me know and I'll get you fixed right up.

What was it people didn't like about last year's awards?I understand we try to do different trophy's also but most the time budget don't allow us to and it seems to be getting harder and harder to raise money every year. We spend about $1400 just on trophy's each year for one show and I think people thought they were kinda homemade looking and cheap. I feel the same way about some other carshow trophy's but this is my opinon only. I honestly go to have a good time and hang out with friends , I have learned over the last couple years that it's not about the trophy or where you place but to have a good time but I still bring my A game. I was really just giving you some input and I tried to PM you about it first but couldn't. Thanks for wanting input. Mark

Yeah, you can't pm me because I have that function shut off. I just like direct e-mail as it saves time for me and helps me to remember when I scroll back. Guess it is a sign of age??

This year's will be different and will not be a plaque so hopefully that will be received better. Yes, I agree with you, I go to events to meet people, chat, and take on the challenge of trying to put on a large event with great success.

I'm sure Rodney of MW can tell you all about putting on events and how everything has to go just so.

They're fun to put on as I like the challenging part and I enjoy watching others having a good time. I hate it for those that do not win but then it wouldn't be a competition, would it? All the cars I saw last year at Parkway were outstanding, just some more than others.

Here's to hoping to having some cloud cover this year! :D

But seriously, I think it is a good color combination and a car of any shade of red would likely lessen the impact of the red SVT at the bottom which helps draw your eye down the dash plaque as you look at it.

Primary concerns are to have your vehicle clean, neat, and detailed.

Noticed that judging is done by SCMC rules where are those rules posted at I would like to read over them. Thanks

if you want to judge, you can pair up with someone that already has, and they can show you what the judges look for. That way, next time you can do it on your own.

Brandon,

We'll pair you up with someone. The reason for wanting 25 judges is so that it won't take as long to get everything done and finished by 4:00 p.m. with everything. What we can do is let you help judge a few cars and then maybe give you a class that has a couple of cars in it.

Chris,

I wasn't kidding, I needed a photo with little or "solid" background. It doesn't have to be a white background but rather a solid color/colors like Robbie's was so I can cut it out easily and the edges won't look so jagged.

Thanks guys! Can some of you go to some of the other forums and post the event for me? Be sure to add that Pro-Dyno will be at the event doing tunes and dyno pulls.

You can just copy and paste this:

SCMC/Parkway Ford's Mustang & Ford Show - Winston-Salem, NC - August 23, 2008

Join the SCMC on August 23rd in Winston-Salem, NC for the largest event in central NC. You can expect to see some of the hottest Mustangs and Fords at this event. Pro-Dyno will be attending the event where you can get your Mustang tuned or dynoed to see how much horsepower you have at the rear wheels. You will get to enjoy listening to music, eating food, and having the opportunity to win one of over 100 trophies to be awarded at the event. Own a SVT Cobra or Shelby GT 500? Then join "Cobra Alley" where we line the street with Snakes, Snakes, and more Snakes. SCMC made a $1,000.00 contribution to St Jude Children's Research Hospital last year from its car shows, help us to support the hospital again in 2008. why can't you just black out the windows, and photoshop a solid background on it?

For it to look right the car would also need to not have any reflections on it. The reflections would look out of place with a solid background.

I wouldn't worry about it. I still don't think it will look as good with a red car (any shade of red car) on it as it does now.

Not bad. I still think the reflections and shading are distracting though. Good job on the black out and cut out.

One of the things I really liked about the first one was that it felt like it covered all the SVTs since it had a GT500 on top and the 93 Cobra on the bottom.

Is this better?I thought you were going to keep the other black one too. I was only playing around when I said that you needed to add a red car too. I would rather you keep it the way it was because I feel as if I bumped the other car off, and I don't like that idea. I also like the idea of what Allan said, it covers all years from 93-2008!!

Chris, I initially put your car in there first even before the 93 or Robbie's Shelby but the edges were too jagged and not smooth like I want it. The black 93 has already been on a plaque for the TX group. Let's just use what we have for now, I didn't really want two black/gray snakes in there. We can do a 1993 some other time. Seems like we used a teal one not too long ago. The photo you posted was much easier to crop and edit.

I don't know how to get the reflection out of the sides of the car without it not looking right.

I had planned on showing in the event, but with everything I have going on (work, school, wedding, ext.) I am planning on still coming up for a few hours and hanging out, but I won't be availible to help judge. I appologize for the short notice, but I was trying to make it happend every way I could and it just isn't going to happen. I always have such a great time at the show too and it is a shame. Sorry!!! Don't sweat it Steve, maybe we can cook up something for a Fall event???

It's too early to tell about the weather because the storm is still unpredictable. A little cloud cover wouldn't be bad at all since it won't make it 101 degrees like it was last year. Once Parkway does the advertising, it's pretty much a done deal. One weather person said clearing out by Friday, one said Saturday, and one shows Sunday. Too hard to tell...

Sorry y'all can't make it Mike.:( I know it's a long way out, but I saw a prediction of 80% chance of rain for Saturday. I know we will know more on the track of tropical storm/Hurricane Fay in the next couple of days. Right now they are predicting it going up to the NE corner of Fla then turning NW near Atlanta by Saturday. If that happens the carolinas will see much needed rain! All that said I believe that Parkway should have a rain date if the weather looks horrible by the end of the week. Just my 2 cents.

Anybody have a giant tarp that will stretch from the end of the lot at Peters Creek to the used car building, and another one that will cover Cobra Alley? :doubt:

If it does like our winter storms that come from that direction it could rain all around us but be pretty much dry in W-S. While we need it, maybe the brunt of this one will go through western NC since they need the rain a lot more than we do.

Jason,

I added him to the list for you.

Tony,
If you have any room left on cobra alley, would you put my father-in-law, Rick Montgomery on the list. He drives the 98 white coupe.

Traditionally we do a "Manager's Pick" and a "President's Pick" for this event. This year we will be doing something a little different. We will continue to do the picks where David picks a classic Mustang and I pick a modern muscle Mustang. That shouldn't surprise you, should it?

Anyway, we will be giving the winners a "Zaino Bucket" instead of a plaque; these items are supplied by Leslie and Steve Treece of Zaino of Charlotte. Please try to remember to buy your Zaino from them as they are supplying the buckets for the show.

What's in it? The following items are in the bucket:

1. Car Wash Bucket with heavy rope handle
2. Zaino Detailer
3. Zaino Tire Shine
4. Zaino Car Wash solution
5. 2 DF Towels

That's a pretty nice car wash kit that they put together for us, so I am asking you all to give them your business and direct others to them, too! Thanks!!

This is so funny Robbie, I had a dream last night about you (not of you but of your cobra HEHE) and you lived next to me in a trailer park!!! We were outside in the rain looking at each others cars and both of ours were covered in dirt underneath and on top. :D There were some other things I can't remember but thought that was funny.I have no words for that dream. I guess it was a nightmare since your car was all dirty:p. The trailer park, no thanks. Not there is anything wrong living a Trailer park CMA:eek:

We won't be able to make it. I have done something bad to my back  and cannot walk. Sitting isn't much better, so here I lay flat. C had worked and gotten the vert all clean and shiny, too :( . So, if my sister-in-law comes by to interview Tony again for the paper, somebody keep him in line! :rotf:

I don't know if she is going to be the one this year, as her mother is terminally ill and not doing well at all in kidney failure.:( She did a great job for us last year though! :bounce:

Hey Chris,

With trying to get everything prepared for the show I realized tonight I forgot something important. Haven't cleaned the car from our waterfall trip. Do you think you will have time to clean it in the morning for me before judging starts?

All in all, it was the best one we put on since we started doing shows at Parkway. I think all of the club members did an excellent job!! We had a lot of new members get involved in judging, parking, helping with sales, and registration. Every SCMC Carolina member who came out and helped deserves a big thumbs up for making this such a successful event.

I agree. Everyone that helped jumped right in and got things done. Of the four Parkway shows I've been to, this one was definitely the best.

Those trophies were great Tony!

Thanks for all the hard work and long hours you put into the SCMC (even if it means you have me on the phone past midnight). :)

Having the club trailer has really helped make it a lot easier with the logistics and supplies, which allows us to concentrate our energy on more important show related items. It's definitely proven itself as a great asset to the club.
