I bought a Canon 5D MK2 and Nic (Waterboy\03ShadowSnake) bought a new GXP. We took some pics this weekend at the Bridgeland park (April meet) and went over to my park and ride. I was really pleased with the night time garage pics. These images were only slightly touched up and cropped. Maybe if I learn how to use PS, I can clean them up a little bit more.

Any of you Canon people want a Canon 5D before I put it on ebay?

I love this camera. The low light/high ISO images are excellent. The max ISO is 25,600 and images are still very clear at 3,200. The RAW images are over 30mb each though, so it makes a 16GB card look very small.

The video is excellent. It is nice being able able to use my good lens to take video. The built-in mono mic sounds better than I thought it would, but I went ahead and picked up this Rode hot shoe mount stereo mic. It sounds amazing. I think that the video is 30min=4GB.

The main reason I bought this was because we are heading to Colorado. From there we will be going to the Tetons, Yellowstone and some other surrounding parks. Hopefully I can return with some decent landscape photos.

Sweet.

FYI on PS - the current iterations of Lightroom and Aperature make it unnecessary for any 'normal' touchup work. I can't remeber the last time I needed to pull an image in to CS2.

Did you get the 'dead cat' for the Mic? It looks pretty formidable with it on if you did.

Lightroom is temping, but there seems to be more out there for PS in training guides.

Yup, the dead cat is on it right now. It does look pretty stupid, but I sounds good.

I may have to check those out. I have been watching youtube PS guides. I like watching the changes being made to the picture on video compared to reading a book. But the books can fill in the blanks and stuff skipped.

Check this site out for reviews on a lens.

I have the Canon 50mm 1.4. It is cheaper than the 60mm and faster. You are talking about portrait stuff, right? For candid people shots I love the 70-200mm L's. A must to own is the 70-200mm 4L non IS. It is a excellent lens for the money at $600. I only sold mine to buy the 70-200mm 2.8 IS. I found with both of these I have really got some good shots of people without them posing. I prefer catching people naturally otherwise you get the same smile and profile everytime with a different back drop.

I also have the 24-105mm L IS. I love it but I would prefer to sell it and pick up a 24-70mm 2.8 L. Either of these make a great walk around lens.
