Thanks!

I can't seem to find the "Event Packet". The registration form says its posted on the club website.

I was wondering if camping was allowed (VIR sometimes charges an extra fee), if ATV's will be allowed (as a paddock support vehicle), if the track will open Thursday afternoon (for those that are going to be on the track Friday), and a few more questions.

Will there be a race scheduled?

Linky?
Thanks

The packet is in progress

VIR will have camping for a small fee

You will be able to get in the track on Thursday after 5:00 p.m.

Yes, there will be a track schedule. Probably the same as last year's since we are doing the same configurations.

Okay, on line payment is now up in the store at: www.scmcstore.com

You can also pay at Motorsport Reg at MotorsportReg.com : www.motorsportreg.com

We will be making up two special jackets specifically for Cobra R owners who attend this event. The jackets will not be available to anyone else participating except R owners. The quality of the jacket will be second to none and it will contain all three Cobra R years on the back of the jacket. The jackets will be given away at the banquet so you'll have to attend the banquet in order to be eligible. They will also have an SCMC logo, TCUSA logo, and an SVTOA logo on it.

If you are not an SCMC member then I encourage you to join to get the $50.00 discount. (Membership is $20.00 a year). www.svtcobraclub.com or www.scmcstore.com (SCMC)

If you do not own a Cobra then you can either join one of these two clubs to get the discount, SVTOA - www.svtoa.com (Membership is $45.00) or Track Club USA (TCUSA) at www.TrackClubUSA.com (Membership is $30.00)

You will have to register on the forums to be a Track Club member. Once you register, you will have to wait for approval as we do this to keep the spam off the board.

The events packet is in the first post.

The packet link works, you might need to either get an updated version of adobe at www.adobe.com, it's free!

Or you may have to refresh and clean out your cache.

I don't have time tonight to make the track schedule out but it will be just like last year's. Got home tonight at 9:30 p.m.

lets say I wanted to make the trip to come for a Car Show? and maybe just a ride around the track...

Is this the event to come too?

I see there is no Car show People regsiter...

I would love to do some track stuff but I am just not ready to do that yet with my new car..

But I would love to come watch and maybe show the car and have a chance to just cruise around the track..

Thanks for any info....

We had over 50 cars at the show the past two years and the word is spreading more. Most people like to do the parade laps at lunch and say the event is worth the trip just to do the laps. It's a work in progress but this year we are adding Ford SVT and other vendors/sponsors to the event. Like Mustang Week, it'll grow as word spreads.

If you own a Shelby GT 500, MGW is coming out with a new shifter and should have some ready by the time this event rolls around. If you want an MGW shifter for your Mustang then you can save on shipping by contacting George and letting him know you want him to bring you a shifter. George is also bringing some ramps so he can "install" the shifter for you.

Go to www.mgwltd.com for their products or post in the MGW forum and let George know you want him to bring you some of his aftermarket products with him and he'll be sure he brings enough with him.

It is always better to sign up in the store, I can control the store by editing payment. I cannot do that at MSR and that's why it is better to use the club store.

Overall, it is even better to send a check with the registration form so you can make it out for the correct amount and it saves SCMC the processing fee but I understand if you cannot do it that way.

Thanks!

Tony,

Are we still planning on holding an late model demo race (R challenge race) at VIR this year? I think it would be great fun and I am sure the spectators would love it. We can select the participants by their experience at wheel to wheel running. Mark Wilson should be able to select who he thinks will be safe. This should be just a fun event who no pressure on who ends up first but to just put on a show for the spectators.
We should include any Ford powered car which is set up with a cage and proper safety gear.

Group breakdowns will be as follows:

White -

Friday Only = 39 drivers
Sat/Sun = 37 drivers

Blue -

Friday Only = 37 drivers
Sat/Sun = 36 drivers

Orange -

Friday only = 42 drivers
Sat/Sun = 33 drivers

Green -

Friday only = 29 drivers
Sat/Sun = 21 drivers

I am not worried about Friday since we are doing the full course and it can handle 40 cars easily per run group.

I believe we can handle 35 cars per run group on Sat/Sun and since we have a lot of experienced drivers on track, we can go with 4 run groups for maximum track time. Should we go to 5 run groups and cut track time out but have less cars on track?

Thoughts??

05-20-2010, 07:27 AM
Glad to see registrations are strong this year...a testament to what a great event you organize. I've heard the rule (can't remember where I heard it) that there should be about 10 cars for every 1 mile of track to help avoid those long trains we all hate. This combined with the fact that there are many different levels of capabilty/experience, I would encourage smaller groups for Saturday and Sunday (North Course) to help make everyones day more enjoyable. Another possible option would be to add additional passing zones. Just my 2 cents.

cobrabitn
05-20-2010, 07:47 AM
Blue and white is open passing anywhere and the more experienced groups. Green looks good for the weekend, it's the orange group that would maybe have a concern. We can probably make it where we get 4 sessions with 3 - 25 minute sessions and 1 - 20 minute session?

03-246
05-20-2010, 10:19 AM
I think I am in orange. Don't you normally schedule 4 sessions per day?

Question...I have a set of mint 2000 "R" wheels and a set of Toyo Proxy RA1's (275/35ZR18 and 305/35ZR18) that I'd like to sell. Is there a way for me to email all registered participants to see if anyone is interested so that I know if I should bring them?

Day One Update:

Today was a full house with over 150 track cars in attendance. Both the Ford SVT trailer and Ford Racing trailers are here. We have charity rides set up for anyone wanting to go for a ride and contribute $20.00 for the Susan G Komen Foundation.

MGW is here with a new Shelby GT 500 shifter. The shifter is very much so MGW with a tight grip and strong feel. George is letting anyone who wants to try one out to take his Shelby GT 500 out tomorrow during parade laps.

Pro-Dyno is here tuning and repairing cars out on the track.

Lots of cool cars and tons of fun on the track. The SVT team has been top notch all day and we look for them to continue that this weekend. We'll have lots of photos to post over the weekend. I'm sure Ben L will be putting a cool video together for us, too.

Day Two Update:

Today the morning weather was threatening but cleared out by late morning and the cars started showing up for the show. Car show was around 50 plus cars and everyone went home with something. We sold a lot of posters and got a lot of potential new members for both clubs.

Another full day of 135 cars on track with a ton of charity rides. Over 1300.00 was raised for the Susan G Komen "race for the cure"charity. The parade laps today were a little too spirited and we had to scold a few people but Rick called them down and kept them straight. Looked like everyone enjoyed the parade laps. The Cobra R exhibition run had 5 Cobra R's in it as some of them broke on Friday and could not participate. We did let the "SVT Team" go out and take the 2011 GT 500s out for charity rides during the Cobra R session. A very good run to watch.

Not too many drive offs today, certainly not as bad as yesterday. Lots of activity with the Bud Moore 1970 Trans Am car there, it was parked with the Ford Racing trailer. It was definitely loud, I couldn't hear myself think.

Pro-Dyno was extremely busy with tunes and dyno pulls. MGW gave demo rides in their GT 500 for anyone who wanted to try out their shifters.

The best part was the Saturday night dinner with the Ford engineers and public relations personnel. Engineers included Jamal Hameedi, Nick Terzes, Mark Wilson, and several others. John Clor did the guest presentation which included a letter from Neil Ressler, Ford SVT Founder, to the SVT Cobra Mustang Club and SVTOA. Great power point presentation with a lot of excitement to come in the near future.

Day three will include the following: On track, hyperdrives, and parade laps. I'm looking forward to getting back on track with my 1994 Cobra. Hope they got some good shots of me on track! :D

Winners of the Cobra R jackets were:

1. Sujit
2. Gary Fisher
3. Rob Schablik

Congrats to you three for winning those cool jackets.

Day Three Update:

If you could ask for a day of rest and relaxation, this would be it. Sunday went off without a hitch, no running back and forth to the show area, just plain old track time. The more I run the north course, the more I like it.

Joel Christ did the church service on Sunday and had 22 people come out to listen to his sermon. We're going to work with him for a fall show so we can help him get his church off the ground.

By mid afternoon, we were combining run groups and basically after 2:30 p.m. all of the locals had the track to themselves. This is the best time to get your car out on the track as most everyone has packed up or was packing up to head home. We shut the gates an hour early since there was only two people left running all out. Pat, Phil, Steve, Rick, and myself were beat down from the heat and the activities over the weekend but we enjoyed everyone who came out and helped or just made things easier on us.

This had to be the best event we've put on yet with great support from SVT, Ford Racing, Ford Performance Group, MGW, JLT, Time Out Sportswear, Data Plates Plus, Fore Precision, AutoEtcNeon, and Pro-Dyno.

We're already talking about next year and what we can do to improve on it and get more participation in the car show and the event. Thanks to all that came out and supported the event and we hope you had a good time.

I'll post pics as soon as I can get all of the stuff out of my truck and put up. :D

Even though I was only there for all day Friday and first session Saturday it still rocked. Hopefully I'll be at the fall event! So far SCMC/TCUSA is my favorite group to run with!

Okay, what in the heck happened to you??? One day you were there and the next you were gone? Did you break something? :(

Okay, what in the heck happened to you??? One day you were there and the next you were gone? Did you break something? :(Lets just say at the end of Friday I had one bolt (out of 5) holding my downpipe on. After trying to patch it back Saturday morning, I could tell it still wasn't sealed, and on top of that I had something going on in the front end. I took it as a sign, packed it up and went home. I didn't want to end up like the Vette on Friday.

BTW, what happened with him? I have video of the tail end of that event. I'm assuming he lifted coming out of T10?

Thank you Tony and crew for once again hosting an awesome event...best one yet! Despite the poor forecast, you even managed to get the sun to come out. Thanks also for bringing out Joel Gilchrist for Sunday am service..something that should be part of every Sunday track event. Lots of pics and video to follow...

I got a video from Rick inside his car as we were chasing each other in the yellow group on Saturday. I'll try to post it up this weekend. The best I could tell, the one clean lap I got on the North course looked to be a high 1:39.XX or low 1:40.XX. Just wondering how that stacked up with some of the really fast cars that I saw out there running.

Does anyone remember who was the outfit taking photos that had the trailer in the pits? I thought it was Finish Line Productions, but they don't have anything on their website. http://finishlineprod.net/index.htm

I saw a pic they had there of me and one of my buddies together in the rollarcoaster, and was thinking of getting it.

Tony, it was a series of shots with me just cresting the hill and Harry with his silver '03 right on my tail.
He was showing me the pic at their trailer so I thought I'd check out their web site and see if they have it available. But I haven't had a chance to, yet.
