View Full Version : Seat inflation: bladder/air bags leakig

I have an extended warranty.
My Ford Service tells me the parts; Bladder/air bags, are "obsolete".
He says: "I am having a hard time finding them".
Does anyone know where I can find them.
I have a feeling Ford will not honer the warranty unless they come from
some section of Ford.
But I would be happy with any information on any supplier.

I would not think they were obsolete but if they are, I can put you in touch with someone who can help you.

I am wondering if they just don't want to do the work/warranty.
I asked the service dept. for the parts #
They told me to call Monday.
I appreciate your help.
There are not many members here in the graveyard of the clutch.
03 Cobra 39,000 mi.
If you can only move one car length at a time; you can't rack em up.
If you have the contact information for the parts; I'd appreciate it.
Thanks again

Heres a bunch of if/then statements. If it's a covered item and the part number is obsolete through Ford and the part is made aftermarket then the dealer can seek authorization from Ford to use aftermarket parts. I know this because 2 weeks ago Ford warranty replaced my balancer with aftermarket parts as the stock balancer for 03/04 cobra's is obsolete. Good Luck.

I spoke with Justin at Palmetto Pony Parts.
He has seats, but selling the bladder bags out of a seat would ruin a seat sale.
He said he thought my Ford Dealer was trying to get me to but a new seat.
He said 9 times out of 10 it is the plastic tubing feeding the bags.
Either a hole in the tubing or a disconnect.
He said to look under the seat and listen for a leak.
All the bags inflate but, will not hold for more than about 4 min.
Unfortunately I cant here any air leaking.
Which leads me to believe the leak is inside the seat.
If there are 3 inflation switches; I am guessing there are 3 separate
air/bladder bags.
What is the probability of getting a hole/leak in all 3 bags at the same time?
From what I got from Justin; I would have to pull the seat, take it apart, and trace all the lines.
Needless to say my Ford Dealer never returned my phone call/message;
asking for the Ford, bag part #
Seems my Southern Friend (Justin) knows New Yorker's better than most
I want to try another dealer, but I have a feeling that since the seat is in Ford's computer;I am not aloud a second shot.
Thanks Again

I think you could have a leak in the pump since it still goes down and the odds of all three being messed up is slim. Take the seat out and see if you can make it work outside of the car. This will probably help you to find the culprit. I think the Ford place just wanted to get you on the labor charge or as Justin said, buy a new seat.

I believe the seat position switch, and cover plate(2 screws); are right in
front of the compressor motor.
Before I pull the seat; I will try accessing the compressor & hoses/tubing
from the front by removing the switch plate.
