Here are some details for our fall cruise to the NC/VA mountains. The route will be Hwy 421 to TN, to VA, and back down Hwy 221 to Hwy 421 again.

Where: http://www.421thesnake.com (http://www.421thesnake.com/) As stated above and in post 2 of this thread are the exact details of our route.

When: Saturday 9/17/2011. The initial meeting time will be 10:00-10:15AM at Arbys Restaurant Hwy 321N Hickory.NC (exit 123 North from I40). At that time we will depart and stop for lunch at Woodlands BBQ http://www.woodlandsbbq.com in Blowing Rock @ 11:00AM. This may be another meeting place for those coming from east NC?

Cost: Just your gas and lunch money.

I picked this road because my wife said it was worse than the Dragon. I highly recommend you check your brake pads before making this trip/cruise.

I took this trip today. So I would know the route and to help to make sure no one would get lost. This an awesome ride!!! It is long and I need to make some adjustments to the route but it was great. AT one point I was on a road that was no more than the size of a wide driveway. All will be resolved before the cruise date though. Everybody sign up for this cruise. To me it is better than the dragon. And I have been to the TOTD a number of times

had a great time, seven cars in all. 421 was a blast!! hwy 58 was great, too. A little damp to start the day, but cleared up and sun started shining.

Thanks to the folks below for coming out even when it was raining having a positive outlook on the day and making this cruise a success. At least in my book. The day turned out beautiful and even got to listen to live music at Woodlands BBQ:D

nice pictures! This was a fun route. There are so many roads in the mountains that we need to run in future cruises. Too many, actually, haha. We had no accidents, and no po-po pulling us over, so it was a very successful cruise. I look forward to the next one!!

my plan for the next one, is to have a Go Pro camera stuck to the hood.

Great time! Hwy 421 "The Snake" is a blast it was more than worth the trip. I think Hwy 58 could have better but we just got stuck behind some "slow pokes". The blast back down 321 wasn't too bad either. . . LOL I agree with Mike we have allot of options for these cruises in the future.
