Im definitely going to try to be at this one. a few people have mentioned that this event in the past has been for experienced drivers, is this true? i was hoping for this to be my first HPDE.

12-22-2011, 09:54 PM
You do not have to be an experienced driver to attend, we will have instructors on stand by for novices. Spread the word!!

List updated!!

12-27-2011, 11:03 PM
I am also thinking of making this my first event. Are there inspection requirements that need to be done to the car before hitting the track? I have a 93 Cobra.

12-28-2011, 10:37 AM
Your car will have to pass a tech inspection. Event forms will be posted in the first post. Just make sure you have new pads and that your brakes have a fresh flush prior to coming to the event. Bring a Helmet, SA 2005 or better and some long sleeve shirts with you. We'll assign an instructor for you over the weekend. The first time is always a lot of fun.

BTW, what color is your 93? I'm sure Daniel will be bringing his teal 93 with him.

12-28-2011, 10:52 AM
Thanks for the info. I can do the brake flush and new pads myself before the event. My 93 Cobra is red and is basically stock but well maintained. I think I might try a single day to start.

12-28-2011, 11:04 AM
A single day is good, it'll get you primed for our big May event. :)

12-29-2011, 11:44 AM
Sending in registration and check today. :)

01-07-2012, 09:34 AM
I will be sending in the info for us today. I have also made reservations for us at the paddock :)

Scott Brady
2003 Sonic Cobra Coupe

01-07-2012, 09:48 AM
It will be an "open" format so you will get a ton of track time. We will have one run session for novices and hyperdrives.

UPDATE: SCMC has partnered with Lockton Affinity to provide HPDE insurance programs to protect you where you need it most… at the track!<O:p</O:p

As any High-Performance Driver’s Education enthusiast knows, finding the coverage you need to protect yourself during events is almost impossible. Over the past ten years many auto insurers have changed their policies to exclude coverage for claims "occurring on a surface used for racing", "at a high-performance driving event", or "use of an auto at a racetrack". The SCMC and Lockton HPDE Insurance Program are pleased to offer physical damage insurance for vehicles used in high-performance driving schools and tracks across the ffice:smarttags" /><?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comhttp://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/ /><st1:country-region w:st=United States. We offer both single-event and annual, multi-pack policies, so you can pick the type of policy that most closely fits your needs. It’s fast and easy to secure coverage! Our easy online system lets you get a premium indication instantly and you can even purchase your insurance policy electronically. It’s insurance at your fingertips.

Please visit http://hpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/ (http://hpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/) for an on-line quote or to complete an application. Single day event policies start as low as $87!

Note: This insurance policy provides physical damage coverage for your automobile while you are participating in a High-Performance Driver Education event. This physical damage coverage will begin when you enter the grounds of a race course and end when you leave the race course premises. Liability coverage is not included in this policy.<O:p</O:p

01-10-2012, 09:09 PM
I'll see what I can do about getting the grill and the breakfast open for the weekend. Worst case scenario, we send someone for a biscuit. :)

01-10-2012, 09:16 PM

Thanks Mike...

01-13-2012, 08:53 AM
Just a quick reminder...if you want to purchase open track insurance to cover your vehicle during the on-track portion of the event, please visit https://hpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/Coverage.aspx?pID=1411 (https://hpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/Coverage.aspx?pID=1411) to complete an on-line application. Costs are very reasonable!

Also....I will be there taking photos on Saturday for anyone that's interested.

Over five hours of track time a day.:bounce:

List Updated!!

01-17-2012, 09:20 PM
Now we're smoking with participants!! :woot:

01-19-2012, 06:12 AM
Tony I'm looking to get a log book at this event. Is that possible. can you help with that? Do you have any advise before this happens?

01-19-2012, 07:47 AM
I suggest you contact your local SCCA chapter...that's what I did. Their scrutineer inspected my car, certified the roll cage and issued a log book, with the number matching the number stamped into the roll cage. As far as I know most HPDE organizers do not issue log books...only those groups that offer sanctioned racing events.

01-19-2012, 05:03 PM
can you provide some more information on the one run sessions and hyperdrives. i am interested in this as it will be my first event and i didn't see any info in the first post about it. thanks!

01-19-2012, 08:13 PM
The information is now in the first post, thanks.

01-19-2012, 09:46 PM
Are you accepting payment at the track if we let you know ahead of time if we are coming for sure?

I won't know for a bit now.

I know I missed early registration pricing. :(

01-19-2012, 09:58 PM
Yes, we will accept payment at the track. Cash (preferred) or check will be okay. Please let me know as soon as you know and bring all of your forms with you, thanks.

Snoopy 777
01-19-2012, 10:02 PM

Of course I would bring cash.

01-19-2012, 10:29 PM
Thanks man!! I'll explain why when I see you, thanks. :)

01-21-2012, 09:12 PM
Please note that the early bird registration period is over. The one day price stays the same and the two day price is $335.00. Please do not mail a check for $295.00 for event registration, thanks.

This is also a great time to try a "hyperdrive" over the weekend. Price is just $60.00 to take your car out on the track for 30 minutes with an instructor.

01-22-2012, 11:14 PM
The event schedule and instructor/student schedule is in the first post.

01-23-2012, 04:08 PM
Tony, are spectators allowed for this event? I'm getting home earlier than I thought (Friday instead of Sunday), but since I won't have any time to prep the car, I'd at least like to come down and watch the fun! Is it possible?

01-23-2012, 09:13 PM
Yes, you can come and watch all weekend. :)

On a side note, the Oak Tree Tavern is down for renovations and we will have dinner at the Pagoda room, just above the grill. I need to know if you plan on coming so they can prepare the correct amount of food. I'll have a menu tomorrow and it will be cheaper than the Tavern.

01-24-2012, 08:49 AM
Scott and I will be there, as well as Travis Blundell

01-25-2012, 02:07 PM
Count us in for dinner sat. night. Roger & Jaimie

01-25-2012, 02:10 PM

01-25-2012, 09:44 PM
Okay, the track is offering dinner both Friday and Saturday nights. The information is in the first post but it is buffet style and the menu sounds pretty doggone good. If you plan to go to dinner on Friday or Saturday, please post which days and how many people?

Weather is looking awesome!!

01-26-2012, 04:47 PM
Please put Reggie Mason and Doug Goddin down for the Saturday buffett. See you this weekend.

01-26-2012, 07:00 PM

I believe this car started as a vanilla GT, but somebody added a lot of Saleen stuff to it at some point. You'll notice the gauge pod is Saleen - I believe the body panels are part of a Saleen kit as well, or was swapped from something.
