Which is the best tire for open tracking? It's kind of confusing when they throw the word radial in there.

Phil,
Good morning and thanks for taking the time to write us. First, both tires are similar in dimensions and both are slick tires. The GT-O tire is designed to provide a higher level of performance while the EC(Extreme Contact)-Dry tire will provide less performance than your current R6 tire.

The GT-O(Oval Track – Daytona Speedway) designed tire is over 2 years old, while the EC-Dry tires were just put on the sale list in January 2012, thus the higher price for the EC-Dry.

I only have nine(9) – GT-O tires in stock while I have 509 in stock of the EC-Dry.

The EC-Dry tire does have the same R6 compound as a tread compound while the GT-O tire has a more durable or harder tread compound. The EC-Dry tire will heat up quicker than the GT-O tire, but the GT-O will provide faster lap times.

Both tires will wear similarly.

Either tire will offer you better than used tire performance and will work for your track day needs.

I would suggest just getting 4 – GT-O tires just to make sure they work for you, but eventually you will have to move over to the EC-Dry tire when the GT-O tires run out of stock.

I hope this helps you deciding which tire to go with and if you have any more further questions, please feel free to write or call.

How will they affect my 9.5 X 18 inch wheels as far as the speedometer is concerned and how wide a tire can I go with the EC dry set up?
