Yeah, thanks Dave. ;)

You really didn't need to do it though. I was going to start a new thread but I started working on the car and forgot all about it. Thanks for being such a good friend.

I'll get some updated pictures in the next couple of days.

Kevin - Yes they are permantly attached. They kinda morphed together from being there so long. :D

It's coming around pretty slowly. I am not going to be able to make the CMP event.:( I tried but it's just not going to work out.

Here's our latest project. I bought a few sets of rims which we are prepping to paint. Notice "Killer" protecting the rims. :D

I get it now?.. you drive a Porsche on the track for a little while, and now you've been "saved", right? ;) So, now the Cobra needs "German" brakes, because Brembos just won't cut it right??

You know?, you only need good brakes IF you drive fast?? :p :rotf: :rotf:

Dean,

I haven't checked in here for a while, so I was not up to speed on your project car. Looks pretty good!

Here's another racer who just finished upgrading a car. Dad's Olds was getting a little weak, so Andy dropped a fresh motor in it (720hp on the dyno) and added a few other parts.:

http://www.isaacdirect.com/images/Andy1.jpg

Here's Andy (OK, plus a little shameless, commercial plug):

http://www.isaacdirect.com/images/Andy2.jpg

This car was driven in the Rolex 24 a few years ago by Terry Borcheller. Andy bought it and freshened up the motor. It is an absolute animal  . He will add it to his fleet, which includes an SCCA GT1 Corvette and a seriously warmed-over M3.

I'd stay longer, but I must rush off to Sebring. You know how it is: work, work, work. BTW, I was at Sebring earlier in the week and had a chance to stop by the Bentley LMP paddock. You can build a really nice race car for $40 million.

Hope you are all doing well.

Gregg

Hi Gregg,
I guess I haven't checked up on this thread for awhile either. That car looks awesome. I can't imagine having 720 horses at the end of my right foot. :D

I've been working so much on this car, I haven't had much time for anything else. Just got the motor but I doubt I will be able to make the first race at Mid Ohio.:(

Here are a few pics.

Thanks Brian. I will know more tonight if I will make it or not. Sunday I had pretty much given up but I seemed to have gotten a second wind. I'm picking up a few parts tonight that will get me pretty much finished. Still don't know if I have enough time to get them all on though. The power steering will be my stumbling block. :(

Being Dean is too proud to boast (right Dean ~lol~) I can attest that there is nothing like the sound of the first time an engine runs....my opinion of Dean's car? All it wants to do is run!

It sounds like a piece of crap, won't idle and I'm not sure how Dean will ever make one, much less 20 laps around any track (How am I doing Dean?)

Seriously? Be afraid, be very afraid!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Yep, this car will be the ultimate sleeper. Notice all the rust? That is actually a very natural way to get rid of weight. Since I can't acid dip the chassis, I'm trying something different. :D

All those buttons have been mislabeled just to disquise their true intent. One is actually a BD KB tire oiling button and the other is a Kevin Rogers antifreeze squirting button. :yup:

Nope, I haven't even moved it under it's own power (or lack of ;) )
I'm having a few (ok, a lot) of clutch problems right now. I am hoping the parts that I ordered will solve my problems.

I had tentively scheduled this Thursday or Friday to hit Gingerman but that' not looking so good. May 2nd is my comp school date at Nelsons Ledges.

SWEEET!!! That's what I like to hear Dean!!!! Will you be taking a crew with you to the Comp school? Comp school is time intensive - trying to shake down a new car and go through comp school can be tough. Get a few cronies to go with you if you can. Have them work on the car while you attend the class sessions. Just be prepared...

Actually, I should go back and re-read this entire post - I'm not sure if you're planning on a test and tune somewhere prior to the comp school...

All I ask is please be gentle to this AI virgin. ;)

Something tells me you'll be a top contender!! Not sure what gives me that impression :D but I know you'll be hunting for the lead. I'm just looking forward to racing with you. There is nothing better than a knock down, drag 'em out race on the track, then sharing a beer with your buddies that you just spent the whole day trying to beat. With all of my new friends in AI this year, it just doesn't get any better!!! You, Pearson, Sadler, Stephen, and the soon-to-be Banana II.... AH!!! THIS ROCKS!!!!

I don't think a crew is going to happen. My school is on a Friday so it's a little tough to get people to come along. I will see who I can recruit though. Thanks for the advice.

I was planning on hitting Gingerman at the end of this week but it seems that work is getting in the way of my racing. :( I have a business trip on Thursday and Friday. I guess I'll try the first part of next week.

I hate to disappoint you but maybe I'll be hunting for the lead this time next year. Since this is my first year of AI and I will need plenty of time to get the car dialed in, I am more interested in finishing rather than finishing first. I'm sure that thought will be thrown out the window once the green flag waves though. ;)

One of the reasons that I wanted to do this series is because of all the great people involved. It's all about having a good time and enjoying the moment.
