Aight Johnny,
Was wondering about the "cage situation"

Guess we'll have to do it at lunch. That's cool with me. I have the back seat out, etc. :)

We started on the cage today. Tom has a badly sprained ankle and it drove him insane all day long. After messing up 2 roof bars in the process, we got a 3rd one finished that is perfectly straight(user error on the first 2). Tom got the plates finished and welded together with the roof bar, so that was a plus. We got the first downtube fabricated, so we're on the home stretch, but Tom needs to rest that ankle for a few days before we finish.

With me being so tall, I have to have the seat pretty far back...this leads to some problems with how the cage is to be fabricated. We'll post some pics on Sunday when we get it finished.

Thanks to Tom and his wife on their graceous hospitality. Tom is a MADMAN when it comes to working with metal. Definitely give him a shout if you need some expert work done.

Btw Tom, did you forget that Sunday is Fathers Day?

I love my kids, but it has been a great (quiet) 3 days with them at my sister-in-law's place in Georgia. They come home today and leave for Lake Junaluska (sp?) on Sunday for another week. :bounce:

It's just been Janis, Bonnie and I and it's been great.

Yeah, the panels should be fun...:doubt: I'll probably won't put the panels in til after vacation. We're leaving saturday, so it'll be the next Monday before I get some time. I'll take some pics then.

John, all you guys have a great time at Summit Point. Be safe, both on and off the track.

Best of luck...give em hell John!

Very nice work Tom!! You need to market that bad boy!! ;) :D I like the little bit of bare metal that is showing back there Craig...forget the panels and just strip the rest out of there!! ;) Did you ever decide on a brand of harnesses?

Actually, I think I'm going to go with the harnesses that you and Jason went with from MM. They are cheap, and totally functional. Just got to get up the cash after vacation to buy them and put em in.

Thanks guys. It was fun doing that one even though we had our share of problems with bending the main hoop. Nothing that a few select attachments for the bender won't take care of though.

Did we ever decide when you were coming down? If we can wait until later in July, I should have the garage rebuild finished. It's going to be a disaster area in there while I expand the thing.

We never set a date. I have an event on July 19th so how about the last weekend in July?

That should be okay. We'll need to wait and see as we get closer to that weekend. I should be far enough into the garage remodel to be free that weekend.

As for the interior panels. DON'T BOTHER! ! !

It's not worth the headaches. If you've gone this far, you're not going back.

DON'T BOTHER ! ! !

I'm hard headed, I had to learn the hard way. Just keep them in the garage and if someone asks (like the wife), just say, you need a few more parts to get them back in and they're on back order. Yeah, that's it...

Where do you get the front half of the cage installed, again? :D

Sounds good, I'll ask samuel if he wants to go up there.

Getting some new 17x11 wheels to run 315/335 kuhmo victorracers on. Stock size 17/18 wheels costing me too much in race tires.
