I was wondering what exactly do both these products do, how they work, and what they are used for. Is one better than the other and for what reasons. Any suggestoins for a 97 Cobra between the two products? Thanks

You can only use the MSD-DIS4 on your '97 Cobra (or '96 or '98). It is an ignition enhancer as well as giving you a few other things....

Stronger spark (not really needed on a NA car)
Timing retard (not really needed)
-this is based off rpm
Spark kill (can set to kill spark at x rpm)
Ignition kill (can kill ignition...theft deterrent)
Two-Step (for drag racers who want to launch at x rpm)

Not really worth it on a NA car but nice to have on a supercharged car to prevent spark blowout, spark kill before the stock computer uses a fuel pull at rev-limiter, and of course the timing retard feature to pull timing as you get in the upper rpms. They are known to fail but MSD is quick to replace any units. You will need to buy two tach-adapters as well.

My suggestion would be to NOT get one.
