Ok, I smoked the clutch at the track pretty badly yesterday. The smell STILL isn't out of the car, and I've driven 100 miles since, much of it with the windows down. It still holds, but is definately hurt. (thanks to the water box guy...I guess ET Streets don't need no stinkin water!) I DID run a new personal best of 13.25@104+ MPH though. :D I thought this was pretty good for 87 degrees with about 85% humidity at 500 ft elevation!

So, what is the best replacement clutch for a 2001 Cobra? I've thought about the Spec II or maybe a 2003 Cobra upgrade. I want something that works at the strip with the ET Streets, but also is nice for the mountain twisties. It can have more pressure than the stock clutch. I thought the stock feel was a bit "light" anyway.

The car has 305 RWHP, 300 TQ, 2003 halfshafts, PHP IRS brace and bushings, rebuilt rear end clutch packs with an extra friction plate, 4.30 gears and aluminum driveshaft. It still has all the stock clutch stuff.

Anybody that's been there and done that, I would appreciate your input. Anybody that wished they had made a different decision, I would appreciate your input too. Thanks folks!

The dual friction centerforce clutches are really nice pieces, and they claim to have a light pedal feel. I would go with some kind of stage 2 clutch personally. I know you love the track, but the weather doesn't let you go enough to NEED the stage 3. ;) Congrats on that new time Ken!!

Thanks Josh. I am pretty perplexed by this car right now. I expected it to be better than that, but conditions were pretty brutal and the track was slick. That run was the only clean run I made all day. It had a 1.88 60'. I did manage a 1.86 60' later in the day but blew the run when I hit the rev limiter in 2nd. :( Rusty is the best you could say about my driving. ;) 3.5 months is to long between trips to the track!

I take it you never got my email? ;) How's your beastie doing?

No emails here..?? Gotta love hotmail. :) Still, you did get a personal best, and there's nothing wrong with that. If you say you are a little rusty, then those times will only get better.
