Hey Guys,

I know its raining and I am really unmotivated to work so I came up with a great idea. I think one day we should get everyone together and do a bracket racing with our beaters. You know my honda civic versus evil cartmans ranger and etc. I think it would be fun to see who has the fastest "beater" car. :bounce: :rotf: :bounce:

That would be too funny. Like Autometer's (FordPower) Metro on nitrous.
Or how about a beater dyno day..... My 93 Escort GT with 148k miles is really up there on the power. I wonder what mods can be done to a Escort GT?

Since the Cobra is my "beater", will it count?

That's what I was thinking.

Could I consider my Harley a beater? If so I'll do it.

Sounds like the Governing Body, John Chingasos, need to help clarify the interpretation of the "Beater" . Therefor let me explain. The beater is considered the optional car one drives when the weather permits you from driving the beloved cobra, bulitt, mach 1 etc. If your alternate car is any sort of a v-8 automobile will then it is disqualified from the "Beater Bracket". Also no Harleys or any other bad ass bike allowed but MOPEDS and Vespas will be given an exception. So what do you do ....borrow or rent a non v-8 car except for late eighties buick grand national which had a v-6 turbo. Let the games begin. My recommendation would be to rent a Ford Focus for $16 bucks from budget.:bounce: :rotf: :bounce:

Wow - you leave a lot of room there. Buick started making the turbo 6's back in 79. Also SVO made a nice turbo 4 cyl stang. Also, since you specifically prohibit V8's, what about 10s or 12s? You can rent all kinds of cars in Houston.

I could always bring the wife's Pathfinder. That would be pretty funny.

Would my pick up or Rachel's excursion be excluded? They are both diesel V8's, plus they both weigh over 8000 lbs. each, that should count as some kind of handicap.

The Sanctioning Body, ME, has made some decisions on the "beater". First of all the Excursion will be given the V-8 Exception. Also, the Tauraus is approved as well as the Pathfinder. . So when we get enough entries commited then the 1st Annual SCC "Beater Challenge" can move forward. So far we have

95 Honda Civic
__ Ford Tauruas
__ Ford Excursion
__ Nissan Pathfinder
__ Metro w/the giggle gas
__ VW Passat
__ Mystic Ford Escort S281 Supercharged G T :D

Any others?

I have a AAA card for the beaters that die on the dyno! Mine could very well be the one that does it :)

My beater Ranger right now is so very slow. 2.3 Liter extended cab. I'm working on a new daily driver that I would have a better chance with. Might have it within a few weeks. It's just a 9 year old truck.

I guess I will have to show in the wife's Taurus then. She won't let me put the spray on it though. I already tried that.

Cool, Brisket again. That would rock. :bounce:

Actually it was a 12.8 in the quarter. He had every mod and a shot of propane on it.
