:D Has any one heard of the 389 gear set for 4.6 's . or should I say 8.8 rearends? I want to up grade my gears from 373's and I have always heard that 410's are the best, and I believe it. But I like the top end of the 373's. If the 389's are better out of the hole , are they good at the top, and what rpm level will I cruise. 373's ride at about 2200 or 2300 rpm at 55 to 60 mph. Will I be wasting my money if I buy them or will be getting something new and unique with the best of both low end acceleration and a higher acceleration along with quicker times out of the hole and at the line.

3.90 would be a waste, as would 4.10s. Go with 4.30s.

4.10s have a higher top-end than 3.73s (torque multiplication) anyway....though it will take you a little longer to get there since you'll be pulling it in 5th.

^^^ A wise man. 4.30s are the way to go. I love 'em.

Y do you want higher gear in a 4.6 motor but in the 5.0 you want a lower gear? I guess what I am trying to say is y do 4.6 run 4.10 and most 5.9 run 3.73?

I have had a time trying to clear the air on another thread about this topic. From what I have been told, 4.10's are better for the 4.6 . Higher gears are better for the 4.6's going on info given to me . I was told 4.30's or higher are better for the 4.6 as 373's are good for the 5.0's. I could be wrong but you could create a new thread and ask that same question and probably get a very good response. A fellow going by tcrews is good for good advice, and he seems very educated in these items, as well as many others on the forum. Good luck! The 4.6's love big gears from I have been told. 5.0's can only go so high I guess, but I'm still learning myself.
