2001 SVT conv. What upgrades should I look at for a little more HP. I don't race the car, just want a little more HP and a nice growl.

hey bud
ok, to get some more power, do the following:

bassani o/r xpipe - ~$250
bassani catback - ~$600
densecharger cold air intake - $150
3.73 or 4.10 gears - $130-$150 (not including install)

with those mods, you will totally love to drive your cobra 1000% more.

if you want some more peep, here are some more...

bassani mid-length headers - ~$600
port/polish lower intake manifold - $500+
dyno tune w/chip - ~$500
eibach pro series springs or H&R springs - $250
Bilstein or Koni Shocks/Struts - $250-$350
03 Cobra IRS Brace - $80
Steeda IRS Differential Bushings - $40
Steeda Tri-Ax Shortshifter - $150

hope this helps

Alternate suggestions:

bassani xpipe w/cats- ~$450 (save the air...2 hp ain't worth it)
Flowmaster American Thunder catback - ~$350
4.30 gears - $350+ installed
Steeda Underdrive pulleys - ~$150.

haha 2hp is worth it when you save $200+ on the pipe. plus it sounds ten times better :) dont get flowmasters. on the 4.6, get magnaflow, bassani or borla. flows are overrated, and arent worth it. if you have a 5.0, then get flows. they sounds killer on the 5.0.

Heh...it's funny, I have read this on the net for years. The x with cats and Flows are supposed to sound like ass, but wherever I go, I get props for how my car sounds. Granted, from what I've read the Magnaflows add a bit more power...maybe 1-4 HP. And you can use the $$ saved getting Flows to buy the cats and save the air! ;)

(BTW...I personally do not like the sound of an off road x with Flows...to bubbley.)

You're hearing it wrong then...it's an OFF road X and flows sounds like ass. Either pipe (H or X) with cats work fine with any mufflers. Offroad pipes tend to work better with certain type mufflers though.

Catted pipe (H or X), any muffler/catback works
Offroad H - chambered mufflers sound better
Offroad X - straight though mufflers sound better
