Y'all missed the party afterwards. We went to Ruby Tuesdays and had about 24 people at the table. A lot of fun with Greg and John P! :rotf:

As usual, I had a blast! It was made even better by the car actually performing (and not breaking) and the friendship and fun! Thanks again to MGW for the great plaques! All the guys from Atlanta had a great time, and we'll be back! ;)

Well, I ran the table. New personal bests:
1/4 mile ET - 12.78
1/8 mile ET - 8.15
1/4 mile speed - 108.42
1/8 mile speed - 86.55
60' - 1.70

And I even pulled a couple of good lights, the best being a 5.014!

New personal bests in all catagories, and nothing broke! Suffice it to say, I am smiling! :D

Well Isaac Price and I were going to have a Grudge Match but he busted a belt and by the time he got it back on I had blown a freeze plug out! :( BUT I did get one good run in...

.032 ---- Reaction
2.011 ----- 60 ft
5.470 ---- 330 ft
8.131 ---- 1/8 ET
94.88 ---- 1/8 MPH
12.231 ---- 1/4 ET
115.72 ---- 1/4 MPH

Not bad for a road race car! :D

Well, not a personal best but I did manage to get a few passes down the track. I ran a 13.56@102.7 mph. Again, not a personal best but what the heck?? (Personal best is 13.43@102mph)

The main thing is we all had a great time and the weather cooperated with cool, overcast skies. No rain, was the main thing and we even had the local Corvette club come out along with some GA-F body guys and the Atlanta SVTOA.

George of MGW didn't stay long enough to get his gift from the club. Said he was going to get something to eat but never came back. So, if you are reading this George, Thomas B accepted your award for you, and David Lynn is dropping it off at the machine shop. I'm glad you are part of the SCMC!

We had one Cobra get into the 11's he ran an 11.64 at 116 MPH. He was running slicks and skinney's. The car belongs to Isaac Price.

I think my favorite thing from yesterday was when I lined up against the Z06. The ONLY bow-tie I ran all day! I got him on traction! I am SOOO glad those cars are so comfortable their drivers fall asleep, because my poor old heavy, underpowered N/A Cobra wouldn't have had a chance without the .4 headstart! and he could have hooked it up at all! ;)

Man, I wished I coulda been there... Coulda..Shoulda...Woulda... I wanted to see if I coulda got into the 11.50's..... in my Red '99... Heard there was a mean bow-tie in the 10's.... So there wasn't an answer for him??

I guess I was the answer for the mean bow tie. I went a 10.16 @ 129 mph. My uncle went a 10.34 @ 130 mph. We both ended up haveing transmission problems. I blew out low gear on my final pass. Anyone that didn't go missed a great weekend.

Bossman: What were ya'll driving respectively? How close did the bow-tie get?

I was in my 87 hatchback with a 418 in it and my uncle was in a 79 coupe with a 408. The chevelle was running great and I think he went 10.60's. He had more cubic inches than we did (460 ci)but our cars were lighter.

Bossman: That's cool...

Anybody know when the spring event is? How bout more drag days? Like at Farmington.... It's only an 1/8, but it is a very nice track. :D

SCMC Drag Day is on February 28, 2004. Check the website at www.svtcobraclub.com . You do check it right? You also read your club mail every week that I send out too, right? :(

Going to Farmington? Doubt it, unless it goes to a 1/4 mile track and besides we need to have drag days in other parts of the country. As much as I know everyone wants an event in their back yard, it's just plain unfair to the rest of the club to have everything in the Carolinas. Of course a group of Carolina members can go to Farmington together as a group but it won't be SCMC sponsored or sanctioned where we actually run the event. When we rent a track, we actually run the event and it gives us the flexibility we need to do what we want when we want.

Carolina Dragway is also a compromise for the Atlanta members and the Carolina members. They are also a great group to work with and have an excellent facility.

In this club, you have to travel to go to events. Consider yourself lucky if it happens in your back yard. Give the SCMC Drag Day a try in Jackson and you will see what I am talking about.
