I have a friend that wants to sell me an H-Pipe that came off a 96 Cobra, my first question:
will it fit?
will I need the mil adapter?
He wants $200 for it and that includes installation is that a good price?
which is better H-Pipe or X-Pipe?

A 96 and '97's h-pipes are identical. It'd bolt right up. If it's a MAC H-pipe, then I believe they are $200 brand new, or something close to that. But, if you didn't plan on installing it yourself, this can save ya a few dollars. If this pipe is catless, then you will need mil-eliminators, or you can take the bulb out of the check engine light. :)

The pipe is catless, but my check engine light is already on so I guess I could get the MIL s later? would the MIL eliminators be hard to put on after-the-fact?:)

MIL eliminators plug right in. Seriously, we're talking about 30 seconds worth of labor. Just undo the connectors on the o2's (rear), and clip the MIL elim in the middle. Very very easy.
