My 99 Cobra engine is pining after each shift or when I go WOT.
Not really bad but, I can feel the little hesitation and hear the pining sound.
I use premium unleaded gas from Chevron.
The car is pretty much stock, except for Magnaflow cat back.
Anybody run into this problem?
Thanks for your help.

Is your gas oxygenated in the winter? That (lowers octane) and the denser cooler air (making you leaner) is probably why you are experiencing detonation now. How many miles on the car? A few things to check would be your fuel filter and see if a station around you has higher octane gas (94, 100 or 102 unleaded). You could also buy a timing adjuster and back some timing off during this time of year and add more in during the spring/summer/fall months.

Go ahead and replace your plugs as well, get some Autolite 764s (copper) and gap to .054. If you can, head to a dyno with wide-band metering and make a pull to check your A/F ratio.

Thanks for the reply.
I will try the new plugs first.
And my car has almost 58k miles. I bought it used off a private seller about 3months ago. Still learning about the car.
Thanks again.
