What's the best length of open car hauler to pull a Cobra on? I've seen ads and eBays for 16' to 24'. I've seen pricing from $12 to $3k.

Guidance please?

I really like my 16' Dave. Feels good behind the truck. Mine was $1,800 with brakes on both axles and spare.

I've got a 16' too and I really like it. I would like to have a 38' enclosed trailer but I need a bigger truck.

16' is plenty. I had an 18' and I could have built a nice tire rack on the front of it if I had wanted to. That's the only reason to go with 18' that I can think of.

I think the longer trailers tend to tow a little nicer. They follow the truck better. Jim P's 24' towed much nicer than my 18', though the 18' does just fine. Just like the longer the wheelbase of your truck, the more stable it will be.

IF I had to do it over again I would spend a little more than I did on my 18' and go with the same length but get a tilting bed. I would say what you get would depend on what you plan to tow it with. You don't want more trailer than your tow vehicle can handle. :D

I'd also say get the 18' or longer if you like. 18' open trailers leave a bit of room to move the car around on or tow larger vehicles if needed. On ours we mounted a truck box to the front and used it for dry storage for tools, grills, parts and such.

Good point. I wasn't even thinking of the ride quality.

I would look at what you will be towing the trailer with before you pick out a size. A 16' trailer (mine weighs about 1800lbs.) and a cobra vert can be a hefty load. If you have an F250 or F350 forget what I just said.:D

Believe it or not, the Ranger and my trailer was a pretty nice ride. It was pushing the limit, as it will for you Dave if you tow with the Explorer, but it worked just fine.
