Check out the sponsor banner above. MGW, Ltd. makes TOP NOTCH machined billet parts. I mean top notch. My car is fitted with almost every Cobra piece George makes.

here is their T-handle link http://www.mgwltd.com/mustang_t-handles.html. If you have questions, just call MGW up, they are real friendly people.

Believe me, the product is well worth the price. There is barely any markup on their parts so the cost reflect the actual material and workmanship.

But not what I am looking for, heres the deal, those T handles your freind has will not fit like the one I had on a cuda in the 70's yes,,I am 46 ,,,,an old fart.

The hurst handle has the hole where the shaft comes up in the same area as the finger lumps, and it would be turned at about a 45% angle instead of being strait across to be at the natural angle of my hand. the was your peoples are would cause the little lumps for the fingers to be in the palm of my hand instead of were my fingers would hit, its real hard to explain what I mean. maybe the best way to explain is for you to imagine holding onto the handle as your sitting in the seat, the shift lever should emerge from the handle between your knuckles. do you know what I mean,?? I need to find a Hurst "T" handle that will fit the 03 Cobra,

I think I know what you are saying. But if I undertand it right, you can just turn the handle more clockwise since it has a locking allen screw I believe that allows for that kind of adjustment.

If you are saying that the shap of the handle itself is wrong, don't know what to tell you, except that I have seen a hurst handle before.

Keep in mind, you can swap out the shifter handle itself http://www.mgwltd.com/mustang_shift_handle.html which will accomodate any angle and many different knobs.

I got a Hurst T handle shifter knob from the Auto Zone for my mustang but had to get it tapped to fit my shift stick. Don't know if it will fit an 03 or not. It comes with different size adapters.

The Hurst catalog in PDF format is available at:

I believe you'd want the direct fit T-handle, part number 153-4900 on page 34.

Their chart on page 35 lists the Mustang thread size as 12mm x 1.75.

You can order one of them from Summit:

I know exactly what you're looking for, I want to pick one of these up for myself too. :)

The main issue here is that the shifter threads if you are looking at it with the ball off, are leaning forward, this is a problem, for the Hurst T shifter to fit correctly in your handm the threads and top of shifter, must lean backward at about a 35% to 45% angle.

other wise the thing does not fit your hand correctly, I wonder if anyone has ever taken the shifter off, heated up the area just under the threads and bent in backward. what do you think?

Well, how about the Hurst T-handle in combination with the MGW stalk:

That might position it better, and if it didn't prove to be ideal you could always try heating and bending your stocker since you'd have the MGW on hand as a backup.

Does that MGW handle fit onto the stock 03 cobra shifter bas? if so that will certanly solve our problem, it looks to be the right angle, but does the stock shaft come off??

AFAIK it should bolt up to the stock base but I'm sure MGW can confirm that.

BTW, if the shifter in the '03 is anything like the shifter in my '99 you should probably replace it with a Steeda Tri-ax or Pro-5.0 while you're working in there...

I bought the Hurst T-handle with the finger grips for my stock T 56 shifter [03 Cobra]. I really liked the appearance, but the angle WAS off for me. It didn't feel comfortable and I missed gears with it. I ended up trading it for a jar of P21S wax and going back to my original knob. As suggested, the MGW adjustable handle might help.
