Well Idont normally join things but I have been looking over this site for about a month and it seems there are many knowledgable and helpful people on this forum so here goes I just purchased an 03 cobra :D I traded in my 01 :( I loved that car but it was time the 03 is just amazing it is totally stock 4000 miles I bought it used saved a bundle it was in showroom condition not a chip, scratch or nick. OK now to my question what size upper pulley can I go to that will not require a chip and not affect the A/F I have read several postings on this subject but none that totally answered my question I know there are 3.4,3.2,3.0 and smaller but they require the chip. What is the smallest I can go with no chip and not mess up the A/F and do I need a belt. also I have read about a air filter made by amsoil which is foam and uses oil like K and N if intrested i lokking just go to amsoil home page but have never seen any posting about them do you have any info. Any help would be truely appreciated

Hello BIGV :hello: welcome to the site.

this is not a direct answer to your question, but read it to understand why you need a chip on a 03 with a pully..

http://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5909 thanks for the info but does it mean that any change in pulley size requires a change to the A/F mix I see so many refrences to 3.2 and above not needing the chip. I just dont want to F**K up my motor 12,000 for a new one I dont think so. My concern is not price with a chip just voiding the warrenty heard to many horror stories on these sites on ford not covering damage to moded cars:banghead: nice ride mine was black wanted the grey but cuold not find

based on that, I have two pieces of advice to offer to you:

as far as not needing a chip, according to Jerry's write up that I posted, it doesn't matter what size pulley you run, as long as you don't peg the MAF meter (i'm sure 2.93 or smaller will peg it). I'm sorry I can't offer you any advice on which pulley to get, but you might wanna look into which pulley doesn't peg the meter or getting a recalibrated meter.

the second piece of advice is, you don't have to have a chip to "chip" the car. Our resident 700rwhp 03 Cobra here does not have a chip, rather a PCM reflash (Much like what dealers do), and I was lucky enough to watch it done by what I consider to be one of the best tuners in the country (beating a dead horse), Jerry W.. I would recommend going to http://www.superchips.com/html/mainpage/index.htm and emailing tech@superchips.com and asking them if flashing your PCM can be reverted for warranty issues (also ask for Jerry W. or Chris J., they are awesome)

This is the product i am talking about http://www.superchips.com/html/products/ford/cars.htm see how it doesn't use a chip (read below the dyno)

If you are worried about the warrenty get a Flasher that way if you need to take the car in for warrenty work just flash the stock tune back onto the car;)
