Yes it does SUCK!!!! It let loose coming out of turn 14 at CMP. I'll be out for a good while. I can't complain about the motor. I bet the crap out of it for 3 1/2 years and it had 42K on the clock.

It was a spectacular death. One of the CMP track officials said that was the biggest cloud of smoke he's seen in a long time. It sounds like a piston or rod broke, according to Lester.

The AI turnout was very dissappointing. Shugg, Pearson,Koehler, B. Smith, Beau(on Sunday) and Lester and a Firebird(soorry forgot his name) in AIX. We had 16 at this event last year. Beau can report on his day Sunday.

RESULTS
AI Sat.- Shugg, B, Smith
AIX- Lester

The guys that were left will have to post when they get back here.

The highlight of the weekend was watching Lester run the dirt track at Lancaster Speedway. A good friend of his built the car and Lester built the motor.  It was a blast to watch.

Shugg and I would like to thank Craig for all his hospitality again this weekend.

Sorry about your bad weekend, John. Any more details on the motor? Did you have your camera running?
Any more race results??

Let me know what you plan to do with her. I'd be glad to drive down to help you tear her apart or whatever you need. DON'T hesitate to ask me for help!

I love fixing stuff and taking stuff apart. With no event at Summit in May, I'll have some extra free time.

John,

I'm really sorry to hear that buddy! Are you going to disassemble it to try and figure out what happened?? Damn I wish there was something I could do to help you out. Hey maybe we could steal one of Tony's Cobra's and take the motor out of it....He'd never miss it with four of them! :D ;) ;)

John, how about a 302 motor out of a 1996 Explorer? It's been to the third round of brackets at Carolina Dragway. On second thought, it has 196,000 miles on it, runs so good I want to keep it.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. The car sounded great at our SCMC CMP event. ?????

The trouble all started on Friday. I was sitting at my space at the auto fair when the cell phone rang. It was Mark Dandurand(#5 97 Cobra AI). He was supposed to be at the track for practice. "I broke a P/S hose, and I can't get one anywhere. I am heading back to Atlanta." This is not good. My plans were to leave the auto fair around 5:00 on Saturday and head to CMP to race on Sunday. John Pearson was to give me regular reports from the track on Saturday so I would know the lap times. The first call was after the practice session. All was well. The second call was not as good. "I blew" said Pearson. This is bad! My arch rival(the #42 car that keeps putting his mystic paint all over my front bumper)was out. All of the sudden I wasn't as excited about getting there. By the end of Saturday, Kohler was also out. This left two other cars and me for the race on Sunday. The two cars left were fast, but I think I had something for them. Well we will just have to wait to find out the answer to that one because I broke a right front rotor and hat in practice. It is amazing how much the racers in this series will help each other. Shugg, thanks for your offer, although I couldn't have taken you up on it. Pearson offered me his brake parts if I could get them to work(they won't). By 12:00 my crew and I were on the way back to Tennessee. Well I guess it will be Road Atlanta for me, or maybe, just maybe Putnam Park.

Pearson, I never thought your motor would blow up. That is such a huge surprise to me, I am still in shock. only kidding man, now put a pushrod motor in that thing and let's have ourselves a race!

In defense of the Mod Motor 2 pushrods let go in the Texas event. How many pushrods let go in AI last year?

Hey John, I found a motor fairly cheap! Give me a call. To put in a pushrod motor would you have to change the k-member or does yours fit both?

Yeah, but judging from the euroimage pictures, John's was definitely the best blow yet.

American Iron should come up with some kind of end of the year award for that ;)

Good luck getting it back together...or a new one. I'll be in Winston soon, I can lend a hand if you need it.

Pearson called me while I was signing the papers for the new dually. I hopped online with my wireless shoe phone and "plugged in" to the internet, saw the above photos, and decided on on a new truck. I'm gonna pull a Smokey the Bandit and run over your "trucks" when I see you next. THE ICEMAN COMITH!!
