I have a friend of a friend that had a cobra and has an exhaust system that I can get for the great price of FREE. My question is, is it worth it? Below is the email that he sent my brother in law. Not very much info.. Sorry to keep bugging you guys. I just dont know a single person with a cobra. Thanks to everyone as you have been very friendly.

It's a Ford Racing exhaust system, but I removed the mufflers it came with and had Dynomax Ultra Flow mufflers welded in. It was too loud, that is why I did that.

SeeDee, we are here to learn from each other and share experience (along with enjoy each others company and share our common love for Cobras) so feel free to ask your questions.

What year was your friends Cobra? You have an 03 correct? if so, then your friends cat-back should be off a 99-04 Cobra to fit yours. Those are the years that came with IRS and have a different setup from the live axle mustangs.

The thing that sticks out to me is the fact that it was too loud. That is a trait of the FRPP 3" catbacks. I have the FRPP FR500 catback, and if there is one thing it "aint" its loud. The 3" however is so loud, they almost make your ears bleed. That might be why they put the Dynomax Ultra Flows on, which would make it actually sound nicer and bearable. Since you have an 03, you will gain from the fact that it is a 3" exhaut once you do more mods.

http://www.gefracing.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=G&Category_Code=46EXHAUST this is a good referrence for FRPP exhausts.

This is the FR500 here (http://www.gefracing.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=G&Product_Code=M5230M58&Category_Code=46EXHAUST)

This is the 3" Here (http://www.gefracing.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=G&Product_Code=M5230M55&Category_Code=46EXHAUST)

Notic how the FR500 has an X and the 3" is two seperate pieces. That is one way you can use to ask your friend to tell you which they have.

More than likely, the cat-back they have is at least mandrel bent (a good thing) and has some nice aftermarket mufflers. If your cat-back is stock and this is a match for your car (thier car had IRS), you can stand to gain from it. The 03 stock catback is a big bottleneck.

Don't know if that answers your question, but hope it helps a little

The funny thing is it actually comes out of an 03 cobra. The kid bought it new, then after a couple months he could not afford the monthly payment so he sold it and got a *cough*neon turbo*cough* He seems to call it a "ford racing exhaust" I figure for free how can one go wrong. I just want to make sure I wont be worse off, the car is completely stock for now so this would be first mod and the CAI coming next week. I just have to question the judgement of someone that says the neon is "nicer" than the cobra.

I just remember my 5.0 with h-pipes on the highway would start to get a bit annoying. Plus it seems corvettes line up to get beat when the car is quiet.

Thanks for your reply.
