As part of my never-ending desire to be involved with the Mustang world, I took on the role as event coordinator for the 4th annual Custom Performance Mustang Shootout coming up Saturday Oct 23 at Mooresville Dragway , Mooresville NC.

Here's what's going on:

Heads-up Drag Racing, Mustang Shootout
Classes:
4.6 3V Naturally Aspirated [Street Radials only] ('05 GT)
4.6 2V Naturally Aspirated [Street Radials only] (Sponsored by SSinserts.com)
4.6 2V Power Adder [any DOT tire] (Sponsored by Vortech/Paxton)
4.6 4V Naturally Aspirated [OEM Street Radials only]
4.6 4V Power Adder [any DOT tire]
5.0 Naturally Aspirated [Drag Radials allowed]
5.0 Power Adder [any DOT tire]
WILD Class [Slicks allowed]
Bracket Race [Slicks allowed]

(Slicks allowed in WILD class and Bracket Race only, DOT refers to all tires with a DOT approved stamp on the sidewall)

Awards:
(still being finalized as we get sponsors on board)
At very minimum, nice trophy + $100 gift cert. to Custom Performance to Winner.
$50 gift certificate to Custom Performance to Runner-Up.
UPDATES:

Gates Open at 9:00am.
Racing/Qualifying starts at 12 noon.

Top25 show, open to all Mustangs. (same as last year)

Burnout Contest
Prizes/Awards yet to be determined. Bring your extra set of tires!

Yellow Mustang Registry vs. Black Mustang Club grudge match!
We're lining up the Yellow club vs. the Black club for some fun runs to see who has what it takes in this grudge match. Additional Photo Shoots also.

Unfortunately that is the weekend of our Dragon Run. Wish I could have made it though. :(

I remember seeing that on your schedule when I was scoping out dates to do this thing on. I was hoping anyone that wouldn't do the dragon run and was still in town, could come out. But most of you guys are probably going to be up in the mtns. :D

Steve, what kind of cars can run in the wild class? If I show up with my real street car would anyone complain?

Jonathan, long time no talk!

Is the 87 LX your real street car? If so, by looking at your sig, I don't think there will be a problem running it in WILD. It cannot have a gutted interior though, and you'll need to slap a tag on the back so that it is considered road worthy. Bring it on down. ;)
