View Full Version : a/c compressor clutch

My 94 cobra's a/c compressor clutch is dragging on release. It takes longer than it should to completely release and spin freely. Tough on the belt. A/C works fine and when the clutch engages, there is no detectable slipping.
Can it be cleaned (brake cleaner??) What am I looking at in tools and $$ to replace it?

I have not done one on that car, but most are not that bad. There are a few pieces to the clutch. You might be lucky and just have to get the top most part.... you wont have to even take the belt off to fix it. not to expensive either. in the 30-40 range. for the top most part. double that at least for the whole thing... maybe a tad more. it usually is held on with one nut and might be a press fit also.

If it the whole clutch its not bad either and is usually a press fit too.. might need a puller though.

Sorry not all to sure on prices, I just fix them let someone else give all the bad news. LOL
